About Me
Hello, Hola,
I'm Angus. How best to summarise ones whole person.....hmmm
Creativity and Education form a big part of who I am. Spent the last two years as a primary teacher in state and Montessori education. I've also just got a job in the education department of the British Science Association.
For the previous few years I worked in the arts. I was lucky enough to present some of my work at music festivals and art festivals at home and abroad.
I consider myself to be open and friendly. I like difference. I would rather my friends be weird than not...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Genuine experiences. I find meeting local people, and seeing how they live, as some of the most rewarding and exciting parts of travelling.
I love hearing peoples stories, and understanding what it is like to be part of a culture different to my own.
Plus I like to have fun. Whatever form that takes, I'm up for it!
Interests
I love art and creativity in all its forms.
I'm interested in reading, swimming, learning, art, dancing, photography, travelling, yoga, and meditation. Life in all its glory!
I love talking about life, the universe and everything (Douglas Adams quote for those who don't know!). Politics, Philosophy, Spirituality, whatever really. There is so much to know and experience in our finite time on this planet, why not try take in as much as possible?

Music, Movies, and Books
Because of my background I try to be open to all sorts of music.
I have a soft spot for particular types of electronic music like Bonobo, The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack.
I went through a big latin music phase thanks to Buena Vista Social Club, Stan Getz and Ibrahim Ferrer.
Blues, Jazz, Rock n Roll, World and so many things in between I enjoy listening to.
Basically the ethnomusicologist in me just wants to hear your music! What are you interested in?
Movies are wide ranging from The Shawshank Redemption and The Lord of the Rings, through Pulp Fiction, Up, and Dr Strangelove. Just like my music tastes I try to be open to everything.
Books....well. Anything by Tolkien or Douglas Adams. Island by Aldous Huxley is amazing. Life of Pi, Catch 22, The God of the Small things, Aesop's Fables and 1984 are some others I like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was once invited as part of our art collective to Perth, Australia to exhibit an interactive audiovisual installation in a children's art festival. It was an amazing privilege, and I was fascinated by peoples responses. Crowds aren't used to interactive art, and it took the children to break the ice and engage with it before the adults got involved. They enjoyed it just as much (if not more) than the kids at times!
