About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet the finest people, drink the greatest beverages, eat the tastiest food, write the most beautiful songs, play the best instruments, work up the hardest sweat and discover the better angles of our world.

ABOUT ME

Name: Angus MacRaild

Age:25

Gender: Male (with a healthy dose of femininity)

Nationality: Scottish

Colour: Pale blue

Is: A songwriter, a guitarist, a writer, a hard worker, a party lover, an expert on whisky, a lover, a walker, an idealist, open minded, relaxed, often scruffy, occasionally over sensitive, an ex film student, a lover of music and film, a lover of words and language, rarely late for an appointment, a lover of travel, a good cook, fit, a family kind of guy, interested in photography, good in a crisis, a driver, someone who enjoys hugs.

Isn't: One of life's complainers, a dancer, up-tight, good at sport, a pianist, afraid of too much, ready for a career, yet able to play the drums, wanting to waste his youth, interested in most television, as well read as he'd like to be, as mature as he used to think he was, into fashion, all that interested in talking about politics anymore, ever going to meet George Harrison.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe everyone is looking for a way to be happy. Everyone has their own ideas about what will make them happy, love, money, family, they all often play a role and often we are wrong, everyone's goal is different and everyone's answer to the happiness quest is different. Thus rendering life as one long grope in the dark in pursuit of being happy. Some find it, some don't, if we can be grateful and enjoy the journey then we're probably on the right track. I think...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was fortunate enough to couchsurf with some wonderful people while I traveled last year and now that I'm back in Glasgow I'm enjoying getting involved with the local group and meeting new couchsurfers. I'll soon be able to do more hosting as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I joined last year and spent over ten months traveling between South America, the states, Canada and various bits and pieces of Europe I've had a fantastic time through couchsurfing and met some wonderful people. Now that I'm back in Glasgow I'm having the same great experiences all over again by meeting new friends through the local couchsurfing network. It's fab!

Music, Movies, and Books

I grew up listening to my parents LPs and my Dad playing guitar so my music tastes have been moulded in this image. Since learning to play guitar myself I have begun to dabble in songwriting as well. I love the art of the song, pure songcraft is a very powerful and emotional tool of communication. I think people that have done it exceptionally well are: George Harrison, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchel, Judee Sill, James Taylor, Jackson C Frank, Don McLean, Carole King, Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Elliot Smith, Lindsay Buckingham, Dougie MacLean, Peter Green, Seth Avett, Christine McVie, Jackson Browne, Jimi Hendrix, Lily allen, Leonard Cohen, Roy Harper, Stevie Nicks, Richard Thompson and many others, I enjoy a lot of different music.

As far as films and books go that is just too big a thing to get into here, if we meet I'll buy you a pint and we can have that conversation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been fortunate enough to have a lot of cool experiences in my life but really when I'm forced to think about it what stands out more than anything else would be holding my newborn baby sister for the first time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a few wee things on the guitar, tell you all about whisky, wine and beer, impart some tasty scottish recipes in the kitchen and I can write something for you or take your picture in a pleasant way.
