About Me

I grew up in the south west of Germany somewhere close to Stuttgart in like a small town. I always enjoyed travelling and living in other countries. At age 16 I lived in NZ during an exchange year and totally loved being able to experience life abroad, other places i ve been to for longer periods is the U.S, China and now again New Zealand for another year. I love when I get the chance to really get deep into the culture of a new place, thats why I prefer staying longer, like several months, in other countries vs. only going for a visit. Crucial for being able to do that well is to know the language. The coolest thing for me really is to have a nice chat with somebody and just hang out, if this happens to be in a beautiful spot somewhere close to nature, even better. I love meeting new people and to really get to know them. For me life is about finding ways to help others see and understand the hope and beauty of it. I love the quote ""Your life is your message to the world, make sure it's inspiring!"and this other quote "I feel there is nothing truly more artistic then to love people"-Van Gogh. These quotes really say what I think I m all about.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like hosting couchsurfers as a way to show hospitality and love to people. For me its about giving travellers a "home away from home" where they are welcomed and appreciated. together with my flatmates in Tauranga, we ve hosted over 200 couchsurfers in less than two years. We did this with a different Couchsurfing profil. We did this as a group because we all live in a community house. Check out our profile: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/thewharfcommunity

I'd like to use couchsurfing as a way to get to know more amazing people while getting to see more of this beautiful country of NZ. I think couchsurfing is the "way to travel" that really gives you amazing experiences you will never ever forget.

Interests

travelling, people, nature, I also somewhat interested in art. To be honest I really find it hard to name real hobbies or interests, because I find whenever I have free time I just like to relax or go on an adventure explore a new place or hang out with the people I love. I do however know how to play guitar and piano and enjoy music and singing, but it d be to much to call it a hobby. I definately enjoy coffee and beer (yes I m german) ;). And I love going to the swiss alps for snowboarding :) plus I am very interested in psychology, health, food and nutrition.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a wide variety of music. I think music just needs to fit the mood you are in, then it totally makes life richer and more beautiful. But generally I enjoy Jazz, Electro and singer songwriter stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two month trip through China, teaching english at universities all across the country. A short trip through France last year sleeping in the back of my VW-Van.
