About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To keep exploring, escaping, learning and laughing!

ABOUT ME

I left England just after turning 18 for a little bit of travel in an attempt to 'find myself'...now I'm 26 and have discovered that actually I quite like being lost!

I'm a slow traveller, love taking time to get to know people and places, not too worried about ticking off a list of must-see attractions if it means I can stop to enjoy something simple or unique instead.

PHILOSOPHY

Although this is a great opportunity to say something super deep and insightful, it would be more truthful to explain my life philosophy through the lyrical teachings of the cat empire:

"and I want to die with a twinkle in my eye, 'cause I sang songs, spun stories, loved, laughed and drank wine"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well normally I would just stay with friends of friends and use help x or wwoofing so I don't feel like a freeloader, but CS has such a great community and open generous folk involved that I've decided to become more active. What better way to meet awesome local people and make new friends all over the world?

Interests

bushwalking tramping and camping, sailing, drinking great coffee and moaning about bad coffee, exploring, getting lost, cooking, blowing kisses at drivers with road rage, climbing, mountain biking, nature, drinking half a tea then making coffee instead, being outside, the people you meet using public transport in developing countries, learning new languages and obscure cultural differences, reading, noticing people being a bit weird, did I mention coffee?

Music, Movies, and Books

I love novels that teach me about parts of the world I know little about, whilst telling incredible stories at the same time. Semi-biographical stories by incredible/inspirational/insane adventurers are always good. I'll read pretty much anything thrown at me though, always appreciate new recommendations! Currently reading cloud atlas, the places in between and young che.

Music taste ever changing but right now my most frequently played tracks include: fat freddys drop, polish ambassador, sticky fingers, emancipator, die antwoordt, hermitude, thundamentals, bonobo and katchafire.

Movies it doesn't matter because I will sleep through 70% of it, sorry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not sure I like this question!!! Done?! Seen maybe? Experienced perhaps? Let's save these stories for when we're sat around a campfire in the wilderness.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are under the age of 6 and can't speak English then I'm your girl! Otherwise, I can teach you to sail, or how to make a decent coffee. If boats and espresso machines aren't readily available then I can always be persuaded to teach you the daddy dance.

I love learning funny cultural differences and nuances so always enjoy sharing stories with fellow travellers about the odd traditions we've come across around the globe.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Australia, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Vanuatu
