About Me

To capture and share the things I see on my way, I use Instagram @drifting.koala

I tend to be full of energy and need a lot of breathing exercises to sit still. I like chilling at home only if I've seen everything there is to see around. I love: dancing, hiking, nature, animals, new places, fun people. I hate: being cold, ignorance, cruelty, greasy food.

I always find it difficult to answer the often asked question of where I'm from; I grew up in Poland, spent most of my adult life in the UK and then lived in the south of Spain for a while. I'm a mixture of all these countries, not exactly fitting anywhere but feeling comfortable pretty much anywhere. Life was good so, at one point, I decided to make it even better. I got rid of my belongings, packed up some essentials and in November 2017 went travelling to Thailand. After an incredible nine months in SE Asia I went to visit my parents and to rest a little but instead immediately went on a two-month tour of Europe. Then, back on the road, for South East Asia part 2. After 15 months of travelling life I was suddenly hit by the Cupid's arrow and went to live in Argentina. After several months of teaching English in Cordoba, together with my bf, we're travelling through South America before moving to Europe!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I am travelling alone, I would love to meet loads of people and learn from them about the local area. Sharing someone else's home is like borrowing it for a little while, fighting homesickness.

Interests

I want to see as much as possible in every place I visit so I walk fast! I prefer being outdoors than indoors during the day but in the evening, I can appreciate a quiet night in, chatting away, especially after a few crazy nights of partying, I will dance till dawn!

I care about fairness. Cruelty upsets me. My ideal world would be one where people learn from their diversity, where we are genuinely kind to each other and creativity is the focus rather than numbing eight hours in front of a computer screen. I'm a bit of a hippie, want everyone to just love each other and share the world together. A bit of a naive dreamer emerges from this description... These things mean I got into the science of positive psychology, vegan lifestyle and a rebellious attitude towards what adults are supposed to be like.

I absolutely love travelling and am hoping to do it for as long as possible. Currently, I'm a little paranoid life isn't long enough to see EVERYTHING so I'm attempting to see as much as I can.

And because I have A BIT of OCD, I arranged the Countries I've Visited chronologically...

  • animals
  • dancing
  • salsa dancing
  • vegan
  • yoga
  • traveling
  • hiking
  • scuba diving
  • solo travel
  • adventure travel
  • equality
  • positive psychology
  • animals rights

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to read a lot of books but then film series happened and suddenly instead of reading a book, I was watching the next episode of (...some amazing series...). Recently, I have tried to read more again, mainly Jonathan Carroll, Neil Gaiman, Jane Austen or whatever happens to be on my kindle.

I have quite an eclectic taste in music enjoying hip-hop, R'n'B, soul, jazz, blues, funk, classical, indie, rock, pop, latin, 80s, 90s etc... I do not like the rhythmic noise called EDM that is so popular these days...

Series that I can remember; La casa de papel, GoT, Outlander, Rome, Orange is the new Black, Narcos, House of Cards, Dexter, Fringe, Breaking bad, Weeds, The Knick, Castle, Suits, Vikings, Black Mirror, Sherlock, The Office (UK and US), The Peep Show, Gavin and Stacey etc, Silicon Valley, Friends (of course) ...

I also really like Derren Brown, Ricky Gervais and stand-up comedy :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I gave out free hugs to strangers in Covent Garden on a very cold day.
