Overview
About Me
Born in Detroit, U.S. and bred in Cologne, Germany for most of my life, I moved back to my true home country (not really...) at 17 years of age to get in touch with my roots and find my true, inner self. Having found that, I continued my spiritual journey to London, UK to study the arts of Biological Sciences, discovering along the way that my passion and enlightenment will only be achieved by pursuing and investing all my l'énergie spirituelle into playing music.
Right now I am in Melbourne, wooh. Best city ever (together with Reykjavik). I like my family, my dog and my friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am very new to this community, so far I've only couchsurfed for one night with Ghassab in Jordan, who invites people to stay with him in his stone cave in the desert to live and experience the true Bedouin lifestyle. It was completely amazing, I saw the best stars I've ever seen in my life and drank a cup of tea with the Palestinian guard, that was watching out for trespassers. We also ate some potatoes, onions, tomatoes and yogurt roasted in aluminium foil over the fire. I'd like to gain more experiences like that and would love to host people, even though I unfortunately can't offer Palestinian guards roasting food in a fire.
Interests
reading, listening to music, hiking (i actually do not enjoy the physical activity and complain constantly while on the hike, but i like the views), meeting ma frieeends (and meet new, interesting people), walking my dog (whenever I am back home roughly once in 7 years), visiting my grandparents (same time-span for that)
oh most importantly playing, writing and recording my own music but struggling with promoting it (cheeky advertisement: www.anipetite.co.uk)

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite movies and books are somehow always the ones that I read most recently (since I forget about the older ones), so top books I read recently were: 'Trainspotting' and 'Filth' by Irvine Welsh (not too good at understanding the Scottish accent unfortunately), 'Catcher in the Rye' by J.D. Salinger, 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' by H.S. Thompson, 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime' by Mark Haddon. Currently I am struggling with Fyodor Dostoevsky's 'The Idiot' - maybe I am just too much of an idiot to understand it (badum tish). I'll keep you updated on the progress...
Movie-wise I recently enjoyed: Trainspotting - the movie, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Pay it forward, Frances Ha, a lot of other movies that most of my friends probably find really boring, but I find inspiring. Oh, Blue is the Warmest Colour was good. I unfortunately haven't really seen any recent movies in the past 6 months, since cinema is so expensive in Australia and I didn't have internet in my house to stream anything...
My true passion is music, on facebook I've apparently liked 336 bands. wowee. I could list all of them, but I think a smaller selection should be sufficient:
Slowdive, Warpaint (<3), Beach House, Antony & the Johnsons, CocoRosie, Courtney Barnett
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once at 2 whole burritos at Chipotle in one go!
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you'd really like to learn this harsh language, I can probably teach you a bit of German. Otherwise I am alright talented in how to record and mix music in Logic Pro and more than happy to share my knowledge on the Australian Flora and Fauna, how interesting all these sclerophyllous plants. I can also do 10-finger touch typing at 124 words a second!
