About Me

Please notice that we only host families with children (no exceptions).

Sometimes I get confused by this 21st century way of digital self presentation. There is now this tiny box in front of me, asking me to describe myself. A few years of social media taught me to present myself in the best possible way. Who really considers choosing a profile picture with visible pimples or greasy hair? And of course, I tend to paint this WHO-AM-I-pic as beautiful as possible.
If I get started, I can tell you that I am a curious person with more questions than answers, I am critical, but acceptant, always waiting for a change and sometimes a bit restless. I can cook well and tasty food makes me unreasonably happy. A good laugh and connection in any possible way is what I search for in human interaction. To criticise the hegemonic structure that we live in and to understand better and better how I myself am supporting it with my actions and believes is very important to me. This description of all my pros could be continued, but I am much more than that. I am impatient, spend way too much time using social media, get upset when someone burns the food and don't always brush my teeth twice per day. I can be nasty.
But don't be afraid to meet me: Sharing ourselves is the best way to discover the world and to improve. That's at least what I believe in.

"The world used to be silent
now it has too many voices
and the noise is a constant distraction.
They multiply, intensify,
the will divert your attention to what's convenient
and forget to tell you about yourself.
We live in an age of many stimulations.
If you are focused you are harder to reach.
If you are distracted you are available.
You are distracted.
You are available.
You want flattery.
Always looking to where it's at.
You want to take part in everything and everything to be a part of you.
Your head is spinning fast at the end of your spine until you have no face at all.
And yet
if the world would should up
even for a while
perhaps
we would start hearing the distant rhythm of an angry young tune - and recompose ourselves.
Perhaps
having deconstructed everything
we should be thinking about putting everything back together.
Silence yourself."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I am registered on CS I got to know hundreds of awesome people: hosting, surfing or meetups. It is a great chance to have people of all kinds from everywhere at home and to feel at home wherever I am.

Interests

All kinds of people can be interesting to me. Everyone has her or his own story and I love to listen to them, especially when people are eager to take off the masks that society offered us to stay in our comfort zones. So let's try to go a bit further!
I am constantly thinking about ways to learn and teach critical thinking. To myself. To others. To the world. And my special interest: To children. Community is something I strongly believe in. Without the support and challenges of other people I would feel pretty helpless. But sometimes I am an island, too and want neither help nor challenges.

Besides that:
I love theatre (especially teaching and acting), I love nature. I love dancing. I love writing. I love to be silent. I love to talk. I love to think. I love to feel. I love to love. I love people, but sometimes it takes me a while to let my hair down.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've ever done was to give birth to my beautiful son. Such a strong and beautiful experience. Our bodies are the greatest machines I could imagine!

Did you know that the sucking of the baby while breastfeeding releases a hormon called Oxytocin that lets the uterus heal faster after birth? I didn't.
