À propos de moi

Nomadic house and pet sitter that occassionnally needs a couch to rest her weary head.

I travel the world to baby sit cats, dogs, chickens, fish and other pets. Travel and animals bring me joy and adventure. I love seeing new places and meeting new people, but also appreciate being home and chilling. I guess a true ambivert (flexible extro/ introvert) who needs a bit of both worlds.

I enjoy cooking, and sharing in great conversations. I want to experience more local activities, share in experiences and food (yes - gotta love local foods! You know, the mom & pop restaurants only locals know about which are really good, and priced fairly).

I am not a party-er, enjoy some museums but find I can get overloaded with information quickly .. so just wandering around and people watching is one of my fav activities. People are so interesting - how they dress, how they speak, how they interact. Each has their own story. I do love a good story!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because as a nomadic traveller sometimes I need a place to stay, and want to have people to talk to, share with.

It also gives me a chance to get to know in the local activities, restaurants & foods.

As I travel solo, it can become isolating, so I like to do things and be in places where I will meet others.

Centres d'intérêt

I like a little of anything - sometimes tv, movies, sometimes hikes and walks, sometimes museums and reading. All depends on my mood, where I am at and what surrounds me at the moment.

As a result, I cant say that I am passionate about any one thing - but I do love people! And all the things and ways people are. From sharing a conversation, to watching them at a distance, to simply being in the presence of others and getting "their vibe".

I, myself, can be a story teller - so I like stories about people's adventures, and am willing to share mine. I can be funny (often without trying) and I am real. I usually talk about what is real to me, in my life and what reasonates with me. I love to hear about other's reality.

As a house and pet sitting - travelling the world - I get to see how people live, what their priorities are and in some small ways, slip into their life and see what its like. I participate with in the care of their home, usually leave meals prepared (based on their pantry ingredients - after all - if they bought it, they must like it!), and share in the love and affection for their pets (ok, I draw the line at cuddling fish!)

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Fav movie: Shawshank Redemption
Fav book: Victor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning
Music: depends on mood, but I am usually happy with the radio .. or 80's music (yep, sign of my generation)

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I have been travelling for almost 3 years ...

Initially short trips, then research trips used to scope out RV's, then purchased a 34 foot RV and lived and traveled in it for 6 months after putting my house up for rent and getting rid of almost everything I own (I only have a 5x10 locker left of personal effects + 2 suitcases)

Then a 6 months of traditional travel with hotels and airb&b's until I finally have completed 1 year of full time house and pet sitting. I spent 6 months in Europe and managed to not spend on accommodations for 5 of those months! It was glorious to be in a home, to be able to cook, and to visit and see how life runs differently in Europe as compared to North America.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

As a life coach, I often teach life skills and help others focus on their strengths to mitigate their weaknesses.

I love to learn new things - mostly about people. People are usually interesting, even if they think they are not.

Share, stories and my time & attention. Sometimes we forget to stop and actually be with people. Share in their world, their experience and really just be present to be with them, to witness them. We all have a need to be seen.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I can share stories, food, and cooking - I cook a wide variety of things but these days, travel pretty defines everything as "fusion" because purist ingredients are not always available everywhere.
