About Me

Hey guys,
I’m a 26 year old girl from Halle/Saale (close to Leipzig), Germany currently graduating online communication.
After I finished High school in 2014, I came to the United States to in the one hand win some time to figure out what to study, in the other hand and as main reason to gain the exciting experience of living in a foreign country, accept the challenge of all the cultural crashes that are involved, meet new people and of course travel around to round out this adventure.
For one year I lived in the suburbs of beautiful Chicago, where as an Au Pair I took care of 2 great kiddos. I was just as lucky with the host family I lived with in my extension year in Palo Alto California. When I wasn't working tho I tried to spend as much time as possible travelling around and exploring the beauty the US had to offer (after 2 years having been to 39 states 💃🏼). Without couchsurfing - for sure I wouldn't have afforded all the intense travelling - but most importantly, I wouldn't have met so many interesting, welcoming and generous people.
During my studies I also spent 1 semester in beautiful Montpellier/France which I loved a lot for various reasons!
In general I'd describe myself as a positive-minded spirit who's always up to do adventurous activities, but also enjoys simply being around the people that make my life as great as it is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling like that totally enriches the whole trip: It's not just the "new City/Region's experience" anymore, but also the "Couchsurfing experience"!

I consider Couchsurfing as the perfect way to get to know a certain region's or city's citizens better and thereby learn about a place in a complete different kind of way. To figure out the main sights, you can always easily ask your old friend Google or a preferred app, but by spending one or a few days with local people, you have the chance to get some kind of insider tips, that you would have never had, if you just lived in a hotel f.i..
Also of course just having a great time hanging out with the hosts (if they are free), talking and laughing about stereotypes of the different cultures or the places already travelled to, is what I appreciate a lot about Couchsurfing.

Interests

I have been doing gymnastics since I'm 4 and will probably do until I'm 70 (at least that's my plan).
Also I have been a dancer in a carnival club for over 15 years which I enjoyed a lot.
As any girl in my age I like random stuff like hanging out and party with friends, listening to music/going to concerts or going to the mall/movies.
Having come to the US however I just had to add traveling to my interest list which now back in Germany obviously didn't disappear from my big list of things I love.
As much as I loved especially the overwhelming national parks of the US.. I'm convinced Europe can offer just as many great specifically historical sights and unique cities which I can't wait to explore!!
Oh, and I've been playing the ukulele for about a half a year - it's not perfect, but underlines my imperfect singing pretty well :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love indie rock bands like Mando Diao, Fleet Foxes or Of Monsters and Men. I also listen to main stream pop music, which I however got more and more tired of, since I have to listen to American Radio stations who tend to overplay their songs. Therefore I also like to listen to Rock Oldies or Rock'n Roll.
When I'm out of course I love everything that makes me dance, if House Music, Techno, 80's or Pop.
To be honest I do not read a lot, I prefer watching movies, which can also be any genre. If the story is good it can either be a thriller, a comedy or tearjerker. I do not like action movies that much.

I guess that's among others having registered at Couchsurfing :D This is how my life got more and more interesting... Meeting interesting people with the most unique backgrounds and lifestyles is what brings you ahead in life!
