Overview
About Me
I am Anil, a backpacker from Turkey. I am a travel addict, full of wanderlust. I was born and grew up in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. Then I moved to Istanbul for college and have been living there for the last seven years. Currently, I am doing my second Erasmus in Łódź, Poland. (First was in Copenhagen, Denmark)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I love travelling and meeting new people, I would be happy to do both at the same time.
Interests
I love backpacking, especially to the places that are famous with their natural beauty. Even when I am visiting modern city centres, the places I like to see most are parks with lots of green. Also, I like hiking.
In the free time that I have left from travelling, I dance. I love international latin dances (although not so particularly good at it :)) I dance for my university and try to do my best. Cha-cha and Jive are my favourite dances.
In addition to all those, photography is my most recent hobby. I always had an interest in taking good quality pictures and express myself with the harmony of colors and the light and now, I started to take it more seriously and do some effort to improve my skills on it.
And I am eager to meet new people and learn about their story. People are awesome.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a wide variety of taste in music. I love rock (mainly oldschool), hard rock and metal music the most but it does not mean that I would not enjoy pop, pop-rock, some indie from time to time.
AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Rainbow, Queen, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Gamma Ray, Helloween, Megadeth, Manowar to just name a few.
The kind of movies I enjoy are usually the ones with complex fiction/scenarios and some plots twists in it. As for the genre, my favoutire is psychological thriller and hard sci-fi but I do watch almost everything as long as it is some good quality work. Also, Stanley Kubrick is my all-time-favourite director.
V for Vendetta, Fight Club, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Clockwerk Orange, Wicker Park, The Others, Das Experiment, American History X are some good examples for the movies I like.
When it comes to book genres, my absolute favourite is dystopia. Besides than that, I read classics from the literatures of different countries and some fantasy fiction/science fiction on occasion. Last but not the least, I love comics. (I stopped reading mainstream superhero comics a while ago though)
1984, Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, Slaughterhouse-Five, A Wizard of Earthsea, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Sandman are some of my favorite literature pieces while Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Kurt Vonnegut would be some of the authors I like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have participated to Macau International Youth Dance Festival in 2014 as a dancer, which allowed me to travel to China and have a one-week holiday with full expenses covered by the organizing company. Considering that I had a student budget at that time and would never had been able to go to the Far East with anything else, that was such an amazing accomplishment for me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am curious about new cultures, different traditions and lifestyles. I'd love to learn about those and share the same. Also, I can show some dishes from Turkish cuisine :)
