About Me
Hey:)
Am I making the leap from Istanbul to Uruguay? Yes! New people, new language, and so much to explore. Luckily, I’m both laid-back and full of energy, so I’m taking my time. I'm moving to Uruguay on November 20th to start a new life, and yes, there’s a very good reason for it—I'm on a quest for peace and calm. Oh, by the way, I'm a chef! My last job was at an urban hub for social change in Istanbul, where I specialized in vegan and vegetarian meals. As I approach 35, I’ve realized I want to focus on being productive and doing things that help others. I’m excited to meet locals through Couchsurfing. Plus, I’m super excited about my culinary journey and a few other projects I’ve got brewing!
I’ve always loved hosting guests and cooking for people. But I owe my professional kitchen career to my vegan friend, whose tragic cooking skills (seriously, it was painful to watch them eat their food) and their pep talks pushed me in that direction. Before that, I wrote for a few local magazines, and before that... Ask me about it:) Even though I’m not vegan, I enjoy creating vegan/vegetarian dishes and love experimenting in the kitchen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to get to know Uruguay, gather some insider tips, and spend my first days surrounded by friendly faces (though, I hear the whole country is full of friendly faces — I know, I know! 😄). Couchsurfing seems like the perfect way to connect with people and make my landing in Uruguay even more exciting!

I'm a big fan of Mystery and Horror. I can’t wait to sip mate while watching the ocean and reading Lovecraft’s tales of terror from the deep. Aside from horror literature, I also enjoy reading autobiographies and theater scripts. One of my favorite local writers is Ferhan Şensoy — shout-out to him!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you simple pickle-making methods to turn cucumbers into tangy delights, how to make sourdough bread from scratch for a perfect crust and soft interior, and the art of crafting traditional Turkish yogurt, a creamy staple for various dishes.
