About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live a compassionate life in which I am of service to others in need. To provide insight and inspiration with those I encounter. Life is about not just about what you do, but why you do what you do!

ABOUT ME

I am a native born Californian, USA in the city of San Diego. I have attended Southwestern College and then transferred to San Diego State University graduating in 2006 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been a preschool teacher before arriving to Africa and I got to work with the education system in Lesotho,, Southern Africa to provide training and resources to preschool and kindergarten teachers by providing them the necessary skills in their quest to better teach their classroom children. In 2014, I finished my Master's degree in Human Development with a focus on social change. With that degree, I was able to find a dream job at Voices for Children in San Diego as an Advocacy Supervisor assisting the CASA program. CASA meaning court appointed special advocate which are those in the community who volunteer their time to best serve the interests the foster children in San Diego.

PHILOSOPHY

"To experience life to the fullest!" I want to see, To do, and experience everything I can before I leave this world! It is my belief that I am obligated to learn most of my world around me. It is up to me and the rest of the world to know thyself and the world to preserve it to the end of time! I live by this philosophy on a daily basis by challenging myself and continuing to grow ever so much!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I truly believe in Couch surfing upon the philosophy the we can open our doors to our neighbors around the world. It's a simple idea in which we all collaborate in a way we get to exchange each others ideas, culture, and experiences in this ever growing world.
I've had the pleasure to welcome many CSers onto my home when I lived in Africa and it was the best experience I could have ever partaken!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have done couchsurfing in Lesotho visiting Peace Corps volunteers and in South Africa: Pretoria, Mossel Bay, and Stellenbosh. It was quite enjoyable to go out on hiking trips, visiting schools, and most of "the neighbors" around the community.

Interests

I'm much of a biking enthusiast, particularly biking on roads. I used to go out mountain biking but I found a new interest in road biking. I also love to play volleyball (sand, indoor, and grass)! In Thaba-Tseka, I loved mountain hiking which has helped my health and I got to see some amazing landscapes. I will continue to hike and walk around the world as I travel to many destinations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to parts of America seeing great cities such as San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and many more on how different and similar parts of the countries display their culture and ways of life. The most inspiring is visiting Machu Picchu in Peru for the first time. A wonderful and awe-inspiring experience was definitely not forgotten as I walked through the ruins of its ancient city. I have also been to parts of Bolivia and visited all over Mexico visiting family. It was an amazing experience to be part of the World Cup in South Africa as I had the chance to witness two games with my brother. In addition, I was amazed to visit the beautiful country of Mozambique and Swaziland where the people are so nice and caring. In the future, I plan to see much more amazing sites around the world!!! In all, it accumulates to traveling as the most amazing thing I've done.

Teach, Learn, Share
