About Me

Hi everyone, I'm Nisso from Algeria, currently living in South Korea as a student.

Being an amazigh (also called berbers; people living in north africa for ages and which means 'free man'), I try as hard as I can to apply this notion of freedom to my life, without forgetting that we are all interdependent and we all need each other to live well.
After living for two years in france (and discovering joys of employment a.k.a modern slavery), I decided of two things: 1) I should keep studying as long as I can, and 2) to start my own business someday ( if I have to choose I'd rather be the boss than the slave in society). That's how I ended up doing a PhD in Korea and I'm still looking for THE brilliant idea that could give me access to entrepreneurship a.k.a freedom.

I grew up playing chess, going from tournament to tournament. I had a relative success in my country since I was 6 times champion of my category. I decided recently to stop playing it on a 64-square and rather play strategically in real life. Because chess can take a lot of time, being in a tournament for a whole week, and also because I wanted to give a real meaning to my life and help other people, while playing chess doesn't bring any improvement to humanity in itself. But I agree that chess has a lot of benefits for the personal develoment of children.

Learning is very important to me and it's something I wanna keep doing all my life. 2 years ago, I needed something completely new in my life, a new source of inspiration
I mainly lived around the mediterranean sea with a melting pot of western, middle-eastern and african cultures. But there was not much I knew about asian culture. So I consider korea as the stepping stone to my discovery of asia and I enjoy every day that I'm spending here while learning about korea. I'm still curious about confucianism and buddhism as they're part of the asian mindset, so that if I go back home someday, I will be able to talk about it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Not only you can visit a new place but also other people with a different culture. It takes the travelling experience to a higher level, meanwhile if you go to a hotel, you tend to isolate yourself from other people. So I really believe this website helps to break the ice between people and increases their social skills.

I believe Couch Surfing social model could be extented to other things of our everyday life with huge benefits on society and economy. I wish people could help each other the same way as the cs community does.

after reading people's experiences on cs, I feel that me too I can think of the craziest thing I want to do and just go now to achieve it. How many of us are aware of our lives? Doing our best to enjoy every second we live on this earth? Awakening our senses...
