About Me

To start, we are traveling as a couple, me and my husband, Rick. I am a Malaysian, from Sarawak, in the island of Borneo, and Rick is Spanish, from Valencia. Being a couple from very different backgrounds, has meant that we are respectful and sensitive to cultural differences.
In the beginning of 2011, we decided to make a drastic change to the way we lived and quit our full-time jobs to start traveling the world. We had no concrete plans or schedule, and so far, one thing has led to another and it has been 5 years on the road... and counting!
In these 5 years, we have slowly sold or given away most of our possessions and we ended up selling our house in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia a couple of years ago. Now, we are completely free to move around as we like, living out of our backpacks with nothing to tie us down. Each day we learn more about the world in which we are living and the world inside of us!
Looking back, we have come so far since we started this journey together. Living each day as it comes and following the paths that have opened up for us in the process has given us deep experiences that we know we are privileged to carry with us today.
We are open-minded, tolerant and enthusiastic people who love to share our experiences with others.

Music, Movies, and Books

We have diverse interests in Music. Rick is a Rock man, i prefer Reggae. But we listen to almost anything to be honest, especially old stuff.

We very rarely watch movies as the few that we have watched recently have not been very good. We prefer documentaries, anything nature, culture or travel based, BBC or anything with David Attenborough in it.

We carry a Kindle around with us, as i am a prolific reader. This way we get to have my English, and Ricks Spanish books in a lightweight gadget.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We were in Nepal when the 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated the country. This experience has definitely changed us. We were evacuated to Malaysia and in a month managed to return with medicines and money donated by kind individuals in both Malaysia and Spain. We provided assistance to villages on the outskirts of Kathmandu along with other travelers who had experienced the earthquake.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share our experiences and knowledge first-hand. So far our travel experiences have been greatly influenced by the people we have met, and we look forward to meeting more wonderful individuals.

I am also a fairly good cook, and will be happy to share some of my knowledge in the kitchen with hosts.
