About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to make up my mind by losing it first
ABOUT ME
My first plane ride was when I was two months old, and since then traveling has been an indispensable part of my life. The more places I visit, the more I realize how infinite the world is, and not just the world, but down to every city, village, family, individual- wherever there is life there lies a network of histories and stories I want to learn about.
"In an infinite universe, the one thing sentient life cannot afford to have is a sense of proportion." I'm afraid that I've come into contact with such sense of proportion. The good news is, it has only made me want to keep exploring and adventuring. I might never see it all, but a fraction of the world is better than none at all!
PHILOSOPHY
"Let's not get to know each other by our autobiographies". Which is ironic, because we must extract ourselves into an online profile. So I believe in real experiences, in being engaged sensorily, being aware of serendipity and chance.
I abide by the motto that if you don't set out to harm someone, and try to always be nice, you'll receive the same kind of treatment. If not, then it's the other person's fault for being a knucklehead.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I travel a lot, and I travel with my experiences of traveling. These will usually come in the form of photography, anecdotes, and general fodder for good conversation and laughs.
Likewise, when people travel to my city I will definitely welcome couch surfers with the same energy, same outlook on the parts of the world we've seen or haven't seen.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am new to CouchSurfing but have long been practicing the art of it. I live in NYC, a city that is frequented incessantly, especially by my friends and friends of friends from all over the world. And I've always got a sofa bed for them.
Interests
As an aspiring anthropologist and filmmaker I am most interested in stories about how things come to be. I love tracing back to origins, and this could apply to personalities, politics, cultures, etc.
I spend my time writing, taking photos, reading, watching films, observing people, day dreaming. I like hiking and exploring nature when I can, taking long walks down city streets when I can't. I like all aspects of food: the cultivation and making of it, the culture behind it, the shared eating experience of it-- my dream right now is to be a producer on a food and travel show.
I enjoy stream of consciousness style conversations over a drink and a smoke. I like to share these activities with the special people in my life and with total strangers as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like Woody Allen's genius delivery of self-indulgence, Milan Kundera and Kurt Vonnegut's desert dry nihilism, and The Pixies' raw, fleshy feelings. Lately, I've been playing Talking Heads non-stop. Have you seen David Byrne's big suit and lamp dance?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The many times I've unwittingly ended up at a beach, usually at an odd hour, always with some close friends, have become many of the special moments in my life. Something about the combination of an expansive stretch of sand littered with few people beneath a smattering of stars or fluffy clouds and soft tides teasing your feet as you leave a path of footprints along the shore just spells magic. Seriously, try it and you'll know!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can write, produce, and direct films of all shapes and sizes. I can cook Chinese food well. I'm a mean doodler.
