ABOUT ME

I am an adventurous and vibrant retiree. I have traveled widely and like to be "in the culture" rather than as a tourist. I am currently living in Indonesia even though my "permanent address" is in Florida.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel. I don't love to be a "tourist." I would rather visit a place from the inside out than from the outside in. So far my life has been enriched enormously by some wonderful couch surfing hosts.

Interests

traveling, scuba diving, snorkeling, quilting, reading, hiking, birdwatching, cooking and teaching English as a foreign language. I have recently become modestly fluent in Indonesian.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read LOTS. I love non-fiction especially biographies. Have you read the book about Steve Jobs?
As for movies, I like anything with Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock. I am a big fan of Will Smith and Morgan Freeman.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the age of 73 I achieved Open Water Scuba Certification! In the past I have been to a fishing camp/resort 250 miles north of the last road on this continent. (North America) From the base camp each day we flew to a different more remote lake where there was only one boat, fished all day with only eagles for company and then were picked up by a small float plane and taken back to the base camp. Among many other fish, I caught and released a 42.5" Northern Pike.

Do you need some mending done? I travel with my sewing kit.
I am serious about continuing to improve my nutrition. If you want to know about GMO food, I have a lot of information to share!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I usually have my small hand sewing kit with me and could do some mending. I love to share stories of my life and I am quite proficient with my iPhone. If you need some digital coaching I can do it!
