Über mich

ABOUT ME

I was born in Russia, but currently living in Bangladesh. I moved to Bangladesh when I was about 8 years old, and grew up here until I moved to Canada for university. After about 4 years in Canada, I moved to Japan for 2 years, working as an English teacher first in Iwaki and then in Ogaki, and traveling a bit as well.

I have been back in Bangladesh since late 2009, returning after 6 years or so, with the intention of only staying for a couple of months! It has now been over a year, and I am enjoying catching up with old friends, family and doing a job I love.

I plan to go back to school in Canada either this year or the next, but until then I plan to travel in and around Bangladesh as much as possible.

I have a bit of a messiah complex, and sometimes the number of causes overwhelm me. I am continuously on the search for "the" cause, and until I find it, I am just concentrating on living my life, having fun while still being a positive force in the world :).

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have not personally had any couchsurfing experiences, but many of my great friends continue to tell me what a great experience it is.

One of the best parts about traveling is meeting new people, and I cannot imagine a better way to meet people than couchsurfing, and I look forward to many enjoyable and memorable couchsurfing experiences!

Interessen

Besides traveling, I love listening to music and reading. I often even pick out the perfect artist/album prior to my travels :) and even end up having "theme music" for each trip.

And, I absolutely love coffee.

I must always buy a book at an airport, and is one of the reasons why I absolutely love layovers! Gives me an opportunity to grab a cup of coffee, and a book.

All in all, nothing beats sitting at your travel destination with a cup of coffee, music and a a good read, preferably next to great company.

I am interested in history, politics and development issues. I find the general working of the world and current events very interesting. When in new places, one of my first thoughts is what it must have been like years ago, and I often build little stories/pictures in my head based on what I know or see.

Lastly, I would be remiss not to mention my love for live music!

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I am never too shy to share what I know, which includes languages (even languages I am not good at), baking/cooking (I'm no expert and my first foray into cooking included making an omelet with ketchup inside!), books to read, music one must listen to etc.
