About Me

I'm a uni student from Australia and a heck of a keen traveler. I like indie video games, ridge walking, running down mountains, and figuring out the transport system in a new city. We will get along if you enjoy climbing over fences you shouldn't be climbing over, rooftops, tea, sunset beers, art galleries, museums, books, hiking, films, forming teams of people to do a bank heist with where each of us have our own unique talent re: Oceans Eleven - or if not, we will probably get along anyway.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best part of traveling is the people you meet on the road. Guidebooks can't tell you about the street they grew up on. They also can't eat toaster waffles with you at 4am or help you open a bottle of beer with a lighter.

Interests

I love walking - around new cities, through the countryside, up mountains, onto rooftops. Big cities excite me because there's so much going on, empty mountain trails excite me because there's nothing better than making it up to the top and running back down.

I like hostels, art galleries, books, cinema, and museums a lot, and I think that can probably be summed up with 'I like stories'.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES:
I'm a bit of a film geek - I'll watch anything from Bong Joon-Ho and the Coen Brothers, to Lost In Translation, to Y Tu Mama Tambien, Studio Ghibli, French new wave cinema, old Hong Kong films, you name it. I have a special love for Tarantino, Indiana Jones, and almost anything A24 puts out.

BOOKS:
Catch-22, King Killer Chronicles, ASOIAF, Catcher in the Rye, Dharma Bums, Crime and Punishment, Orwell, Tartt, Murakami... I am the dumb backpacker hauling around 2kg worth of books in their pack (I should probably get a kindle).

MUSIC:
Kind of difficult to narrow it down but if I had to it'd be something like electronic chill.

Flume, Jamie XX, Tame Impala, Ratatat, King Gizz, Daft Punk, Panama, Tourist, the soundtrack to Drive..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once did ten days of silent meditation in a monastery in Yangon

I've also walked three days from one city to another in Myanmar, slept in the Sahara under the stars, hitchhiked on a school bus in Thailand, gone on a pilgrammage in Southern rural Japan, hiked my way through a self-declared autonomous republic, salsa'd with a Cuban cowboy, seen Macedonia's most popular pop band live in Skopje, met Slovakia's friendliest dog Wally .. hard to pick (but Wally was pretty damn amazing)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good sense of humour - I'll laugh at my own jokes so you don't have to pretend to.
