About Me

I have travelled around the world after leaving Germany after school at 21. After a brief stay back in Germany I decided to leave for good and found my home in New Zealand and now live in Taupo. I have worked as a support worker since 2001 and also have studied horticulture in Auckland alongside Psychology. I have two children and a cat as well a continuous flow of flatmates in my house. I love getting to know new people from all over the world and I love learning about different cultures and customs. Until Feb 2021 I was the coordinator of the Taupo Community Garden at the moment and I thoroughly enjoy going there digging in the dirt and getting to know some like minded people who know about composting and how to grow their own food. Last year to decided to advance my education by doing a Masters of Nursing so I can get registration this building on my psychology and caregiving background. I thoroughly enjoy being a student again!
I am very sad to not being able to host people currently as soon as I can again I am looking forward to it as I thoroughly enjoyed doing it when I could.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This seems to be an easy way to get around and get to know people from all over the place without going anywhere. And if I am happen to go somewhere which is not often at the moment I might get to stay with some fabulous people who have the same idea.

Interests

Above from the above described blurb. I am also into power walking with a mate. I am telling myself constantly I need to get my Yoga mat out more regularly and I love hiking in the bush but I have enrolled in another program at Wintec so my time is limited at the moment between working, kids, reading rather philosophical articles, watering the gardens and feeding my cat. There are just too many!

Music, Movies, and Books

My last book I read was Hui comes home which is a New Zealand book about how we in NZ need to move forward in regards to living in a multicultural society with a history of colonisation. It's written very well with new insides/suggestions based on solid research (it's referenced)
Last movie I watch the other day was Rwanda Hotel which was horrible but well made. It's just horrible that people can get so nasty!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Giving birth

Became fluent in English despite my high school teacher telling other teachers that I would never learn a language.

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's share some good times!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have been told I can cook but I probably won't have much time at the moment but I can help around the house and I will need breaks and happy to make music together. Oh and I am more than happy to share my gardening knowledge!

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Colombia, England, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United States, Venezuela

Countries I’ve Lived In
