About Me

I'd subscribe to Nebula, not Netflix :) I work as a climate scientist, I have causes I deeply care about and I will definitely go on long rants about documentaries. Anti-capitalist (at least the neoliberal version of it), mostly busy plotting mutinies or gardening.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SENDING ME COUCH REQUESTS:
This is not a free hotel service. If you have no references, or a boring profile and you leave me a message that basically tells me your only interest is in getting free accomodation (or in creeping me out), please save yourself and me some time and don't bother asking because I WILL decline. This is a place to make friendships, understand other people's experiences and learn about the world. If you think these are surface level statements, then you haven't experienced enough of life yet, so again, don't bother asking. If you want a hotel, book a hotel.

For those of you who are here for the right reasons:

I've learned so much thanks to this platform and I want to be able to share that with more people. I like having deep conversations with people I meet, I want to know that there are thinkers around and I'm always eager to learn about you and your experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Love African jazz, recently been getting into Indian folk-inspired music. Couer de Pirate, Tracy Chapman, Ella Fitzgerald, Melody Gardot, Bowling for Soup, RHCP, This will destroy you, Stromae, Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Dream Theater, Nirvana, Nujabes and a whole lot of random stuff. Literally anything floats but I hate EDM.

Movies: Mostly art films, currently watching the Arunachal film festival online (it's free!). Running a Mubi subscription so you get the gist. Favorite ones are Ghibli films, The Pianist, Caphernaum, Moothon, Parasite, Salaam Bombay, Waiting for the carnival, Ponnette, Hidden Figures, Queen of Katwe, Boxed, I Not Stupid, Au Revoir Les Enfants, Les Choristes.

Books: Less is More by Jason Hickel - the book I wished I'd written before he did. Anything Le Carre, Gerald Durrell, Kafka, Orwell, Ayn Rand, Michael Crichton, Asimov, Rushdie, Khaled Hosseini, Murakami, Ma Jian, Red Sorghum, Guns of August, Angela Saini, Arundhati Roy's collection of political essays, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Marine research expedition across the Atlantic Ocean on board the Polarstern, one of the world's largest icebreakers. Only Indian selected for it. I love the oceans!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to play the piano and sing weird campfire songs. :D

I'd like to learn whatever you're willing to teach and share whatever needs to be shared :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A great time and great conversation, so many stories and very extremely lame puns and jokes that you'll be begging me to stop. Oh and I will mostly always find a place in your city/town that you might not have seen before.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Singapore

Countries I’ve Lived In
