About Me
**in Prague until may**
I'm eating homemade crepes while writing this. (:
My name is Anja and I'm a student from Slovenia, a lovely country - if you're a student or a tourist.
I live in the capital, Ljubljana, where I study Russian and Japanese language/culture. I wish I wasn't such a lazy student so that my knowledge of the two languages would be better than it is. I've been to Tsukuba, Japan, on a student exchange program for a month in 2012 but my Japanese has gotten worse since then because of minimum practice. I've never been to Russia yet but it's the next destination I want to go to!
I love learning and exploring languages. I started to learn German in grammar school because my friend, who was already fluent in it back then, wanted to teach me the language so that we could have secret conversations nobody would understand. Unfortunately that never happened since there's a long way from 'der Baum' to an actual conversation!
Other than languages I love to read, learn and handcraft. I attend lots of classes on sociology (and psychology) because I'm very much interested in the world we live in. But beside all the politics of our world I also like to learn more about the actual lives of individual persons. That's one of the reasons I like CS!
I love handcraft. I wish I'd kick myself in the ass and do more of it instead of just occasional birthday gifts and especially costume making for 'Slovene halloween', which I enjoy the most. Being not exactly wealthy students me and my sister tend to make cheap but (I hope so) cool costumes, so far my favourite ones were Ninja Turtles and cat-policemen from a famous Slovene children's book.
Otherwise I'm an easygoing person open to new experiences, new people and food. I have a part-time job in an Arabic fastfood restaurant so remember - if you know me, you'll never be hungry in Ljubljana!
I have a mission in life to try a falafel in every new city I visit. That's what you become after making falafels 30 hours a week for 5 years.
Let me know if you liked to hang out sometimes, I'd probably like that too! (:
PHILOSOPHY
Home is where the heart is, heart is where the people you love are. Most of mine is here in Ljubljana, but a part of it went to South Korea.
There's nothing wrong with living our lives to the fullest, doing what we like, enjoying our life, living like it's our last day alive but we should never forget that we're all a part of the same highly globalised world and should never be ignorant to home or world politics because everything is connected.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy music a lot but there aren't many artists I've listened to more than just a song or two. Here's some of those I have:
Rammstein, D'espairsRay, Siddharta, BigFootMama, ex-YU rock (Idoli, Zabranjeno pušenje, Bijelo dugme, EKV ..), Vlado Kreslin, Mujuice, Kino, Tobija, Kinoko teikoku ..
I'm always ready to spend foolish amounts of money for a band I like but recently I've been going to concerts of bands I don't know and I'm loving it. Most of all I enjoyed those with all sorts of punk, metal and ska music. Other than concerts I sometimes go dancing to drum'n'bass.
I enjoy movies a lot, here's some that I really liked and can think of right now - American Psycho, District 9, Fight Club, The Reader, Harry Potter no. 7, Goodbye Lenin, Davitelj protiv davitelja, Sreča na vrvici etc. + I have a thing for Marvel and DC movies. :D I also enjoy TV series especially The Wire and Game of Thrones.
I love to read and I've decided to buy myself a new book every month and I've been successful doing that for a few months now (no, I haven't read all of them yet)!
Last one bought: Hannah Arendt - Wahrheit gibt es nur zu zweien
Here are some of my favourite books/authors that I could think of right now: Umberto Eco, M. Shishkin (Calligraphy Lesson), F. Westerman (Engineers of the Soul), Anna Funder (Stasiland), Žižek, R. Murakami (In the Miso Soup), Y. Zamyatin (We), M. Kundera (The Unbearable Lightness of Being), P. Mercier (Night Train to Lisbon), Hannah Arendt, Zygmunt Bauman, Guy Debord, Kojin Karatani, Agatha Christie's Poirot, Harry Potter and many more ..
I've also found a passion for poetry, especially Slovene avant-garde (Kosovel, Zajc, Šalamun) and Russian symbolism (Bryusov, Blok).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
found my peace in Ljubljana
shared a chocolate frog in the Knockturn alley
slept on a bench in Tokyo .. twice
found the perfect drink to mix with white wine (it's sort of a traditional student drink because it's cheap)
Teach, Learn, Share
I know the theory of preparing proper turkish coffee. Sometimes I'm successful in practice.
