About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finishing my PhD without losing my sanity.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in adana, turkey. i want to be a academician since a was ~5. i love math and when i was a child, i thought that i would be a professor of math. when i was a highschool boy, i was mistakenly thinking about being an engineer which i thought would require some abstract (theorem, proof style) math. after studying computer science for almost a year, i realized my mistake and now, finally i am studying economics.

PHILOSOPHY

no one can be forced to help anyone (especially by government [redistributive taxation]) but anyone can make the world a better place by helping someone in person.

"books are a uniquely portable magic!"

Interests

microeconomics, game theory, experimental/behavioral economics, mechanism design, economic networks, social choice theory, social psychology, philosophy, ethics, math, photography, history, political and cultural anthropology, evolution, whiskey.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movie is, uh (after an hour of thinking) ok, lets do it this way. my favorite movies are:

dr. strangelove
12 angry men
anatomy of a murder
the third man
LOTR
the great escape
the mist
the shining
amadeus
das experiment
goodbye lenin
lives of others
all c. nolan movies
all charlie chaplin movies

music is easier. i like symphonic rock/metal, classical music, medieval songs, and late 19th/early 20th century classical turkish music but actually, i listen to pretty much any kind of rock music.

choosing favorite books is the hardest of all and i don't think i can do it because i read a lot since i was 4 but i can try choosing my favorite authors of literature. (for non-fiction books, see my interests. it will give an idea.)

dostoyevsky, zweig, orhan pamuk, milan kundera, umberto eco, tolkien, irvin yalom, ihsan oktay anar, james joyce, sabahattin ali, george orwell, gabriel garcia marquez and lots of other great men and women that i cannot recall at the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

until i read this question, i supposed i have done things that are amazing. apparently, i was wrong and i have a boring life (assuming dreams don't count).
