CURRENT MISSION
Discover new places helping out people where and whenever necessary
ABOUT ME
Everyone calls me Anka. I'm an easygoing person, very sociable and excited to meet people from all over the world. There's still so much to learn about other cultures ...
PHILOSOPHY
Since I started volunteering in different locations around the world, I realized that I'm not the kind of person that is looking for the perfect job, making lots of money and settling down. I spend my time looking for ways to help others ... I get satisfaction out of working with kids who don't have the same opportunities that I had as a kid.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like meeting new people whether it's to show them around here in Belgium, or get a drink with them. I believe getting to know different nationalities and personalities is exciting and that's how I want to participate in this community of CSers, by sharing my own cultural background and by maintaining an open attitude towards other perspectives as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I don't have a lot of experience with couchsurfing YET. I spent a couple of days in Avignon staying with two French students and it was an amaaaaazing experience, so I'm definitely looking forward to meeting new people and sharing ideas and perspectives with others.
Interests
The past few years I spent most of my time studying while working as a volunteer for different NGOs. In August 2013 I'll be moving to Nicaragua to continue my work locally, helping out kids who otherwise wouldn't have the chance of a better future. I love traveling, especially getting to know other cultures. I read quite a lot and I love writing about my travel experiences. I get excited when talking about my next trip, and I enjoy heated arguments about what's wrong with this world we live in ...
