About Me

Hello! I'm a thirty-something girl from Belgium with a love for high waist skirts - you'll never see me wearing pants...or almost never - and travel bug infected veins. I'm passionate about shorts trips and long trips, architecture, nature, museums, historical and new interiors - especially those preserved in their former glory: starts drooling in 3...2....1... - and aaaaall things illustration. But most of all maps. Currently trying to conquer the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet people. People from all over the world, who are willing to share their stories and experiences with me. I love to listen. I love to learn. Maybe how to cook a local dish or what's the history of the area you're living in. I love to talk. About traveling and about life. I love to have a drink once in a while - make it quite often - and I love to dance. I love to travel by myself, but I love to meet people along the way even more.

Interests

Traveling - I guess we all do -
Culture - nothing better than roaming some ancient streets and discovering plenty of beautiful houses, cute little bars and some history around the corner -
Nature - just in general, I discovered mountains and lakes and waterfalls and rocks and beaches make my heart beat faster, or...maybe I need to get fit again -
Photography - snapping just everything interesting -
Arts / Architecture / Illustration / Visual Arts - yes, you can find me in a museum quite often and I love it! -

Music, Movies, and Books

Do you know those people who fall asleep the moment they start watching a movie?

I have to confess I'm one of them...

But I looove reading and I can spend hours in a bookshop to find the perfect book to bring home with me...I prefer novels, everything related to history and traveling, and I might even read a lot of fantasy...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazed by the light entering the Grundtvig Kirche in Kopenhagen. Saw the sun rise above a cornfield on an early morning walk. Walked along the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. The colours of the rocks in Capadocia. Listenend to the silence inside le Corbusier's Chapel de Ronchamp. Tasted from the nightlife in Berlin. Tasted magnificent pasta in Rome. Got lost in the old town of Riga. Discovered little treasures at flee markets in Berlin and Brussels. Ziplined through the cloudforest in Costa Rica. Got amazed by all the picture perfect panorama's in Montenegro. Partied two weeks long in Nicaragua. Found paradise in Panama. Lived two months of pure bliss in Colombian and Ecuadoran mountains at the side of a Mexican cyclist. Spent two nights in the Amazon, sleeping on a leaf bed, protected by a mosquito net. Was driven through Bolivian altiplano, complete with geysers, hot springs, volcanoes, lakes in all colours of the rainbow and the most famous salt flats in the world. Joined the biggest Carnaval of Paraguay. Watched openmouthed the miracle that’s called Iguazu. Snorkeled in the paradise named Koh Surin, Thailand. Almost stepped on a snake in Kao Sok National Park. Lived through a two month lockdown because of a global pandemic with Uluru in my backyard. Saw croc infested waters and swam in less croc infested waters in the Australian outback. Admired +8000 year old rock art in the Kakadu National Park.

Teach, Learn, Share

My teaching abilities are somehow 'limited' to everything creative, so if you're into that, I'm your woman. - think about funny selfportraits and a bit of screenprinting - Other thing, I absolutely love architecture, so I can talk about it for ages and maybe even give a little tour... on the other hand, if you could help me improve my Spanish and German, we have a deal!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some Belgian chocolate (if I didn't ate it all by myself) - teach you how to draw a self-portrait/house/landscape/the Mona Lisa - how to swear in dutch/flemish (or other words, depends on what you prefer) - deep conversations and small talk - nice company - eternal gratitude
