About Me
Hello! My name is Ann, and I live with my husband Chris and dog Django on the Flemish countryside. We both love travelling through Europe with our camping car, but we already hosted many guests ourselves in our cosy house. Our house is situated in the outer West side of Flanders, in a small charming village at a distance of 10 km from the cities Ypres and Poperinge. The french border is nearby, the city Lille (France) is "nextdoors": 20' by train! We moved from Antwerp to the countryside of West Flanders 13 years ago, never to leave again!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We have the space, we love to host and take good care of the people who come and share our home, hospitality is one of our core values, and we love to share our beautiful countryside with everybody else who likes walking, cycling, hiking, discovering hidden secrets, learning about WWI,...

Music, Movies, and Books
This is a very long list... I absolutely love jazz and blues, but also appreciate the better guitar work. My husband Chris is more into folk and classic music. Books play a very big role in our house - Chris is a former teacher English and Dutch, so we have a nice collection of non-fiction and English literature.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Woww, what a question... I'd say raising my son, Willem. He's a 23 year old self-confident young man, who has a bachelor degree biology and works as a bicycle courier in Ghent.
Besides that I joined in 1992 the "Mother Earth's Walk for America", a hiking tour from New York to Las Vegas, to plead for the rights of native Americans. A life changing event!
Teach, Learn, Share
Ecology, political change, ecological transition, education... All subjects we love to discuss and learn more about.
And not to forget the 1st World War, of which our region is a living testimony.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hospitality, a good bed (!), a wonderful breakfast, a lovely view, the proximity of Ypres, Poperinge, Kortrijk, Lille, ..., transport from and to a nearby railway station.
