About Me

Hey! I´m Ann-Katrin but everybody just calls me Atti.
I´m 19 years old and after my Abitur (A-Levels) I´m currently enjoying my time abroad. First I lived in Benin, a small country in West-Africa, where I worked as a volunteer in a kindergarten and as a teacher in a secondary school for 6 months. Currently I´m staying in Toulouse (France) for another 3 months as an AuPair before I´ll return to Germany to start studying.

I love meeting new people and I really like learning new languages. When I have the time I read a lot, I like to cook (especially West African and Asian food) and I often spend time with friends or my siblings. I also do a lot of sport like jogging or swimming.

Although I think it´s incredibly difficult to describe oneself I´d say that I´m a very open-minded and spontaneous person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Especially since my experiences in Benin where I met so many great people from all over the world I´m keen to meet new people and find out about their cultures, experiences and thoughts.

When you meet strangers you experience the funnies coincidences - In Ghana I met a girl who by chance lives in the same village in Germany as me and even knew some of my friends (but before that we actually spoke in English for at least 30 minutes without realizing that we´re both Germans). Moments like this is when we say in German "Die Welt ist klein" (=The world is small) - you benefit so much of meeting strangers and you always have stories to tell.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a Beninese village without electricity and with water that came from a well for 6 months was definitely a very interesting experience! But it actually sounds worse than it really was...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Plenty of typical German dishes and of course (for those who are interested) the exchange of the German culture, the language or my experiences of living in West Africa.
