I believe there is so much to learn from other cultures. The best way to do so is to interact with the locals of a country rather than only visiting the tourist attractions that show travelers only the beautiful landmarks of a nation. There is so much more to a country's culture, ideologies, and traditions than what tourists are usually exposed to.

I like movies that brighten up my day so I'm all over the comedies.

I mostly look for books that tell a story of different worlds and realities, so I'm biased towards fiction.

I was fortunate enough to spend my first time out of North America in Guatemala, where I volunteered with local organizations building stoves, working on a coffee farm, and painting a school. The trip truly inspired me to see what other parts of the world have to offer and to get to know locals on a personal level.
