About Me

Hi! I’m Ann. I’m brand new to the Couchsurfing community. I am embarking on my first solo traveling adventure. I’m a very friendly, honest, respectful, caring person who loves life and experiencing all the beauty and adventure life has to offer.

I enjoy exploring new places, meeting new people and making new friends. I love learning about different cultures, sharing stories and laughter, having thoughtful conversations, and expanding my understanding and connection to humanity and this diverse and beautiful world through travel and the connections I make with the people I meet along the way.

Being outdoors in nature makes me happy, whether that’s hiking, biking, white water rafting, yoga on the beach, playing tennis, working in the garden, enjoying a beautiful sunset or laying out under the stars.

I also have a passion for exploring the world through food and love to share a good meal. I love going out to eat and trying new foods, as much as I love going to the local market discovering new ingredients to play with in the kitchen, and with whipping up something delicious to share.

I’m very clean, hygienic, organized, respectful, down-to-earth and easy-going person. I don’t smoke and I only drink occasionally. I enjoy sharing a good glass of wine or cocktail over great conversation and laughter.

Life mottos I try to live by is to squeeze all the love and joy out of each and every moment… and to leave each and every person and place better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get a real authentic, local experience, make genuine connections and hopefully new friends around the world. I love to learn and grow my understanding of the world through the people I meet along my travels.

Interests

I love to learn and have new adventures and experiences. I also love opportunities to flex my creative muscles. I’ve always been quite artistic ever since I was a child. I enjoy connecting with people and hearing about their stories. I love exploring the beauty in nature as well as the energy and culture in a bustling city. Playing tennis, pickleball, live music, dancing, exploring new restaurants, local markets and cooking are some of the other activities I enjoy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have very broad taste in music and books. I really enjoy listening to live music and dancing whether that’s in the kitchen or in front of a live band. I enjoy reading a wide variety of books and expanding my understanding of the world. I enjoy most genres of movies except for horror movies or anything with too much violence.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve had the privilege to have some pretty unbelievable and amazing experiences in life. Originally born in Vietnam, my family and I escaped after the war.

After a series of harrowing and miraculous events, we had the good fortune of finding refuge on a couple of small islands in Malaysia and eventually immigrated to the USA. My current home is near the beach in Southern California. I’ve also lived in Manhattan, New York for several years. I’m happy to share more of my story over a nice drink or good meal.

Some of the most memorable things I’ve done… I’ve ridden a motorbike through the Ha Giang Loop in North Vietnam and swam with sea turtles in the Gili Islands and white water rafted throughout the United States.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m a great cook and artisanal sourdough baker. I’m neat and organized. I’m also very good with plants and I’m a bit of a plant whisperer. I’m fluent in English and Vietnamese.
