About Me

CURRENT MISSION

experience and gain a deeper understanding of other cultures

ABOUT ME

I have a US passport, but I've been living outside my birth country since 2011. I hold permanent residency for Mexico, and I've been based in Mexico since January 2020.

Past live(s): I travelled extensively for several years. Previously I worked at a large, global advertising agency as client service director. I lived in Manhattan/New York City for 17 years, so I consider myself to be a New Yorker. However, I grew up on a farm near Savannah, Georgia in the US, so I also identify as Southern.

PHILOSOPHY

do unto others...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I usually attend events in the cities I visit and often message interesting locals to meet to say hi. I hosted when I lived in Morocco. I'm a courteous guest, and I provide travel info to people whenever I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

it's all been wonderful... I've stayed on couches in Beirut and Paris. I've hung out with locals in different parts of Morocco, Colombia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Spain, Macedonia, Kyrgyzstan and India.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Admittedly, I'm quite partial to acoustic singer/songwriter stuff, flamenco and anything that includes a pedal steel guitar. A Spotify playlist is always on in the background.

Movies - There are plenty of things I'd rather be doing than watching a movie or TV, so it only happens once or twice a year. Wes Anderson is my favorite director.

Books - Most recent (historical fiction) read: Love Songs of WEB Du Bois. I'm always downloading things for my Kindle. I especially enjoy non-fiction such as biographies and travel diaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

participated in La Danza de la Luna, a five-day pre-Hispanic ritual for women

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a very curious person; I ask a lot of questions. I admit there's plenty for me to learn! I'm an open person and am willing to share my knowledge and experiences with others, especially when it comes to travel. I created a travel advice book in 2022.
