About Me
I started my adventure in Australia, now I'm continuing in New Zealand. I've found traveling by myself opens up so many more opportunities to meet new people and make new connections, as well as learning about myself.
I'm interested in so many different things, but my life revolves around my love of animals, both domesticated and wild. I've done volunteer work with a myriad of different wildlife, most recently my life was filled with flying foxes (who captured my heart quite completely). I've worked with a number of domestic animals as well, but my love will always be horses.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was attracted to the idea of seeing a place so strange and new to me through the eyes of someone who calls that place home. I also realized that I don't necessarily travel in the same sense that others might. Rather than breeze through a place, seeing the top things to see and doing the top things to do, I prefer to live in a place, even if its only for a few days. My idea of enjoying a place is by walking around it, exploring and blending in with people going about their daily lives.
Couchsurfing allows for a deeper connection to a place, I think. Rather than a beach being a beautiful beach, it's the place your host would come with their family growing up, or a drive up the mountain to see the view becomes a discussion about self-confidence. Through couchsurfing, and other circumstances, I have built a family of friends around the world, and I want to continue growing those connections.
Interests
All animals. Seriously, if you can't find me look for the nearest location that will have a flock of birds, dogs, cats, etc. When I was younger traveling with family in Turkey I was found befriending the stray dogs on the beach (which was actually quite stupid and dangerous, looking back on it, but I don't think I would have done it any differently).
I love walking. Or wandering, rather. It's a great way to explore a place, and I do tend to wander a bit farther than most other people would walk.

Music, Movies, and Books
I will listen to almost anything.
Depends on my mood, really.
I'll give most movies a chance. But if they're based on a book I usually prefer to read the book first. And I'm not afraid to admit I enjoy watching movies aimed at children, especially since I plan on working with children and nature education.
It's too difficult to name a favorite book. I tend towards fantasy and sci-fi and I've never read a Terry Pratchett book I didn't like, but I also absolutely adore the James Herriot tales that I grew up reading.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cared for flying fox orphans.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am willing to share what I have learned from my life to this point, and hope to gain knowledge from hosts. I want to share meaningful conversations.
I'm passionate about conservation and wildlife, and how we coexist with so many wonderful and different species around the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
An excitement for their country, and the wildlife that lives around them. Some of my friends have said it is quite amusing watching how excited and enamored I get over sighting something they see everyday.
I'm afraid I am not a confident cook at all, but I am always willing to help.
