About Me

A 26 year old single mother of a 6 year old curious boy. We both have multinational backgrounds, me being Finnish-Russian and my son adding Irish-English to the mix.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to show my son how travelling is done right. After living years in Dublin and a short while in Paris, I came to realise the difference between visiting and experiencing. I gain a completely new perspective each time I genuinely spend time with locals and foreigners living in the city, whereas there is little to gain from visiting tourist attractions next to other tourists. My son is extremely sociable and his curiosity for the way of life of other children is endless. He wants to meet new friends from all over the world.

Interests

I'm a law student who likes to explore more creative things in her free time. Aesthetics is my weak point, I could just take in the beauty of a city's architecture or skyline for ages. I'm looking forward to city breaks with my 6 year old son this summer, and would love to meet people with similar circumstances and interests. We truly enjoy doing things as a family, and one of my biggest passions is child inclusivity. We want to visit genuine places, such as parks, restaurants and activity centres, where local families spend time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had to leave my country when I was 20, purely because I knew there were so many amazing things to do and see. I moved to Ireland and had my child there. I wasn't going to think of my child as something that was going to hold me back, so we stayed in Ireland which we call our home and where I completed my undergraduate degree. I consider the experience of fully integrating into a new culture as the most valuable one I have and have given my son. We moved to Finland when he was 3, and he now identifies as a full national of the two countries.
