We were both born and raised in Alaska, Cory in Anchorage and Anna mostly between there and Fairbanks, with a few years out in the bush when she was young. We met in 2006 at our first post-high-school job and have been together since 2007. We just got married in June of 2017, and are now part way through a year of backpacking the world. We want to see and explore as much as we can and make some awesome new friends along the way!

Overall we're pretty easygoing, friendly, fun, and honest. We clean up after ourselves and do what we can to help out. We don't smoke or do drugs, and get on well with most pets (and people).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We love meeting new people and exploring new cultures, and what better way to get a feel for a culture than to see how people there actually live? We want to make new friends, swap stories/travel ideas/music/recipes, and get that local view of the places we visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

We both love to read and are always in the middle of at least one book. Our favorite authors are J.K. Rowling (both), Terry Pratchett (Cory), and Cecelia Ahern (Anna).
We are pretty easy-going and can enjoy just about any music.
Cory's favorite movie is the Count of Monte Cristo. Anna has a lot of movies she loves and no idea which would be her favorite. We enjoy a lot of different kinds of movies, but probably action more than anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Anna studied abroad in Scotland for a year, where she got to do a lot of cool things, such as learn to play underwater hockey and meet J.K. Rowling at a book signing.
Cory got his skydiving license and is certified as a sailboat captain.
Both are scuba and freedive certified, and have run with the bulls in Pamplona and cycled the Death Road in Bolivia.

Teach, Learn, Share

Languages: We are fluent in English but trying to learn several other languages. We can help others work on their English, and hopefully also practice their native language with them as well.

Cooking: We are interested in learning to prepare dishes from around the world, and are also happy to pass along our recipes and what we've learned so far in other countries. Cooking and eating together is a great chance to chat and get to know each other :)
