Hi I’m Anna!

I just joined couch surfing in May which is why I don’t have many references or friends yet! I’d be so happy if you gave me a chance and considered me for a place in your home :)

I grew up in Canada, but I’ve also spent a lot of time outside the country travelling throughout my childhood and now adulthood, particularly in Malaysia where I was born, and half of my family lives! I just graduated university (I studied biomedical and mechanical engineering) and now I finally get to travel for a whole year! After that I’m going to apply for another school to learn how to build prosthetic limbs. This year I think I’ll go to countries in North Africa, the Middle East, and Central/South/East/South-East Asia. I love getting to know locals wherever I travel, and I have way more fun pretending like I live somewhere, rather than trying to hit all the famous sights. I think that’s why CS is so great! My fondest memories come from connecting with locals. It really enriches your experience in a country and I always try to do the same for travellers whom I encounter when I'm at home.

I can’t wait to get to know you, but on the other hand if you want a guest who will mind their own business then I can definitely do that :)

I’m looking for people to meet and places to stay every once in a while! Ideally as a host, you could give me some insider recommendations about your city, or even show me them if you want! Hopefully not the same stuff I could find on TripAdvisor hahah ^_^ And in return I hope I'd be able to provide you with some meaningful experiences, whatever that looks like to you!

I love historical fiction books! They’re the only types of books that can really make me feel emotions, and I just eat that up. I listen to all types of music, but I love songs and artists that have a really good groove or melody to either dance or sing along to!

I can help you practice languages you’re learning (if it’s one of the ones I speak). I can even teach some phrases in the languages I speak if you want! I can edit your English writing (like an essay) if that’s something you need. I can teach you how to fix things around the house, give you an introductory lesson to coding, or help with computer aided design 🤓
