About Me

I am Anna, 26 years old. I am a nurse, vocation one! I have been living in Manchester for 2 years (2014-2016), working in an NHS hospital. Then, last year I decided to move to Athens and work a little bit as a volunteer in Medicens du Monde, an NGO based in the center of Athens, working in a Free Clinic and in Eliniko Refugee Camp as a nurse. I am currently working as an agency nurse in the UK, doing some shifts every now and then. I love travelling, my job, sun and friends, meeting people and discovering new things! I love learning languages and getting to know people. There's lots of interesting people around the world :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like the idea of sharing the house/flat to people who needs a place to sleep/stay for holidays. It's a way to meet new people (probably pretty interesting people) and to help out somehow. And a part from that, it is an excellent way of getting to know the place you are going at, a bit more deeply! There's going to be a local person who can give you tips about where to go, what to visit, where to eat...etc! And even joining you for a drink! A great way to know (or show) your spot in the world!

Interests

As I said, I do really love traveling and meeting people. I love hiking and nature, landscapes and different cultures and languages. I love music (all sorts, depending on the moment). I play guitar and I sing, not very well, but hey, I have fun! And as long as people doesn't complain...! Apart from nursing I have been instructor for children for many years (camping, school trips and theater lessons mainly) and English teacher. I love food and cooking. For me, there is always an excuse to enjoy a good meal! Few friends, few drinks, nice places and good conversations are basics for living!

Music, Movies, and Books

It depends on the moment and the "life period" I am living at! I like books based in modern history, as long as they are novels and well written! Then I like classic books sometimes, but they have to trap me at the beginning! I have been reading British thrillers, Spanish modern history dramas and South American novels recently. Basically, as long as the way they are written is beautiful, I can read pretty much everything, and the same with music and cinema! If there is quality, it is welcome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have really enjoyed the time I have spent in Greece. I have met amazing people, kept working as a nurse, in contact with lots of people, learned a lot about my professional career and learned a very different language, Greek!! I am pretty proud about those last months!

Teach, Learn, Share

In Athens as well, a part from nursing I have been teaching Spanish, to get a little bit of extra money! I love teaching children. But anyway, the last months I have discovered that teaching adults is very cool as well! Very different, but cool anyway! There's not much I can teach...guitar, languages...! Maybe a bit of nursing/medical knowledge...! But I am opened to learn everything anyone wants to teach me! (not cupcakes or deserts... I am bad at it and I know it...)
