Soviet cinematography is fantastic if you know the background.

My favourites among books so far are The Grey House, Armenian- Russian novelist Mariam Petrosyan, The Between, funny easy reading Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, Never let me go by Kadzuo Isiguro.
