About Me

19 and taking a gap year in 2017 to travel around Europe and Nepal. I'm so excited to make couchsurfing a big part of my accomodation while I'm travelling because I want to meet new people and explore places I visit by spending time with those who live there :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet interesting people all over the world, and see a side of the countries I'm visiting that is not just the postcard tourist side.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to so many kinds of music - while road tripping, cooking, or just hanging out. My favourites are folk, soul, jazz, country, a bit of classical, latin and anything 60s or 70s. Fave artists/bands include the East Pointers, Simon and Garfunkel, the Beatles, Mumford and Sons, Xavier Rudd, Van Morrison, the Mae Trio, Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly, Fleetwood Mac, Sam & Dave, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Cat Empire, Joe Cocker, Kc and the Sunshine Band... I could go on!

Books. I studied literature last year and adored it, and I love reading both fiction and non fiction. I like biographies and people's real life stories because they remind me how amazing humans are! Favourites would be Mao's Last Dancer, Wild Swans, anything by Brigid Lowry, Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice, the Muddle-Headed Wombat (childhood favourite), Burial Rites, Looking for Alibrandi and the classic coffee table book My Cool Caravan because, you know, I love looking at pictures of vintage caravans. Some day I'll go on an adventure in one.

Movies - don't really do sci fi or horror. Shamelessly love a good rom com or chick flick. Historical films are good. Also love funny TV series like Miranda, Fawlty Towers, Modern Family, I Dream of Jeannie and Lano and Woodley. Top movies are Bend it Like Beckham, Strictly Ballroom, Mamma Mia, Hairspray, Frackman (awesome film about the anti fracking enviro movement in Aus), the Sapphires and the Blues Brothers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done a five day hike through the Tarkine Rainforest in Tasmania with mates, on a track that wasn't an official walking track so we were all alone and had to bush bash our way around a lot of the time. we made the bush our play ground and explored forest that had remained much the same since Australia was part of Gondwanaland millions of years ago.

Last year in my final year of high school I skipped two days to travel up to Newcastle and join a worldwide protest called 'Break Free from fossil fuels'. We blockaded the world's largest coal port and I met so many amazing and inspiring activisists from all over the country and even groups who had come over from the Pacific Islands!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm bringing a set of watercolour paints, if you have any experience with them then I'd be keen to learn a bit more about the techniques for using them.
I love preparing food and cooking, so would love to help you cook and have a few good recipes up my sleeve!
I'm going to learn Spanish but am passionate about languages in general so would be excited to learn a bit of whatever language you speak.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook you yummy food, cooking's one of my favourite things! Big fun breakfasts, fancy desserts, picnic food, dinner, whatever you want. If you have a garden I can help you look after it and harvest food from it so we can make something delicious. If you have a guitar or ukulele I can play some tunes. I can share my favourite songs with you.
I can paint you a picture with my watercolours and share stories and laughs and hopefully be a fun adventure friend.
