Hello! My name is Anna, I'm 22 years old, and I'm currently on a gap year in Galicia, Spain, working as an English auxiliar de conversación. I absolutely love traveling and learning about different countries and cultures. I feel really fortunate for the opportunity to be immersed in a completely different life here and hope to make the most of this next year! In my free time, I love to cook, write, read, study languages, and go on walks/hikes when the weather allows :)

Being new to life in Spain, I would love to meet more people and have the chance to explore more of this beautiful country (and beyond)!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hope to meet new people from all over, share stories, and get to know what makes a place special (which, I think, extends far beyond its buildings and history to those that live and make up the communities now). Once I'm settled down in a place, I would also like to open up my home to travelers.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is usually some kind of alternative music, whether it be in English, Spanish, or Portuguese! Some old favorites include Arctic Monkeys and Two Door Cinema Club, while some material I've recently been listening to include songs from Café Tacuba, Zoé, and Los Hermanos.

Movies: I'll always be a big fan of Harry Potter (also the books, for sure) and love any good adventure movie and most cheesy rom-coms. I also like more historical shows such as Downton Abbey and modern adaptations such as the TV version of "Sherlock."

Books: It's been a hot minute since I've read, but I really enjoy classics such as "To Kill a Mockingbird," "Pride and Prejudice," and "The Alchemist" amongst others!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to Machu Picchu for my 20th birthday after being stuck on a bus for 28 hours due to a teacher's strike. It was so worth it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach expressions and words in English and Russian, and share stories about solo and group travels (and misadventures)! If anyone is interested in vegan recipes, I also have a TON in my repertoire :)
