About Me

Welcome to my profile! I am a structural engineering student currently splitting my time between New York City and Long Island. My home is too small for hosting at the moment but I’d love to show anyone around and/or answer questions about traveling to NY.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am extremely new to this community and traveling in general, but I think it’s a really cool way to expand my worldview. For now I am interested in meeting new people on my travels and being as respectful of a guest as possible. For the future I intend to give back by hosting travelers to NYC.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am on a competition team that designs and constructs a 20-foot-long concrete canoe — and then we race in it!

Teach, Learn, Share

In general, I love listening to stories and I like to have my ideas challenged by hearing new points of view. I am fascinated with how the world works, from the tangible to impalpable. My main academic interests are civil and structural engineering, geology, and environmental science so I could discuss those fields for whoever’s interested. On the flip side, I have not properly studied politics, history, or literature in a couple of years, so I would also love to hear more about these topics on both a local and global scale. On a linguistic note: as a Cantonese speaker, I can share some helpful phrases for the next time you travel to Guangdong or Hong Kong.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love a good conversation, but I am also content with enjoying the silence. For the curious, I can share my personal life experiences growing up in America. At the same time, I’m equally down to chat about more trivial and/or fun topics. I also don’t mind doing chores to ease the burden of hosting! Lastly, I can make really good Japanese-style cheesecake.
