About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Stay in school forever and raise a little lamb to frolick and gallop stupidly around my future daisy field.
ABOUT ME
Hello, I am Sophie! Although I consider myself a creative person, I am not very creative when it comes to writing about myself so I will simply include some of my many hobbies: all the arts (ceramics, painting, drawing, baking, jewelry-making, knitting, sewing, singing), long distance cycling, being outside (hiking, kayaking, swimming in the ocean), and of course traveling to different places within the US and around the world. So far I have only traveled extensively around Europe and the U.S. but I'd love to explore all of the continents before I leave my human form.
I currently work as the Study Abroad Advisor at a university in Southern California. I love helping students begin their journey to explore the world and hearing about their adventures when they return! I graduated in 2015 with a degree in Studio Art and Psychology. I am married to my wonderful adventure buddy and best friend whom I met while I studied abroad.
PHILOSOPHY
You are your own God.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think this couch-surfing concept is brilliant. So far I have only couch-surfed 4-5 times, but every time is more rewarding than the last. Really like to see this type of kindness and sense of community. I want to meet other couch surfers and get a local experience rather than hotel or hostel. Local hosts can show you special/hidden treasures of a city you would have never come across otherwise. Couch surfing has an element of spontaneity and surprise, which to be honest, scares me just a bit as a newcomer, but I want to be open to new and all things!
One great couch-surfing memory: My husband and I went to see Bob Dylan play a show in Mainz, Germany. We were generously hosted last minute by a friendly lady who accepted us even though she already had another guest from France. The french couch-surfer just so happened to be a long-time Bob Dylan super fan (also attending the same concert) who had been to 300+ concerts and followed his tour all over the world. Hearing her stories and experiences evolving as a young fan to a dedicated Bob Cat was arguably better than seeing Dylan perform himself!

What I Can Share with Hosts
I can partake in a good fun jam session by offering my vocal chords! If you happen to have all the right ingredients, I can make your kitchen smell like heaven with the best whole grain banana-nut-chocolate-chip muffins. Knitting is a fun past-time of mine (especially hats) and unfortunately also a dying craft. I can teach you how to make a scarf haha :-)
