ABOUT ME

Anna: About two weeks ago, I resigned from my job as a floor nurse to undertake my lifelong dream of traveling. Ever since graduating high school, I have worked hard through school and as a nurse to save up enough money to take some time off and explore the world. Last year I was able to go on a two week adventure through Ireland, England and Scotland which only peaked my excitement to continue delving into new cultures, scenery and experiences. With my sister, I am planning a two month trip backpacking around the majority of Western Europe and into a few Eastern Europe countries, as well. For our first big journey into Europe, we hope to meet amazing people (and hopefully new friends) and understand how other parts of the world live. Partaking in some tasty wine, chocolate and cheese may also be on our itinerary =)

Lorenn: I am a meticulous and thorough Virgo who can only really do one thing at a time. This next two months, the 'one thing' will be TRAVELING EUROPE...something I've been wanting to do since my teen years. I feel so fortunate to be able to supplement by graduate degree in travel with an ACTUAL journey. At the recommendation of many a mentor, I'm casting off the net of responsibility that should accompany a new grad, and going abroad (from Hawai'i) in search of other opportunities--and an informal education--which makes sense: I abhor routine and covet a challenge. The only plans I have in life are for the next two months. Scary, but exciting!

PHILOSOPHY

Anna: Currently my philosophy is that life is too short to spend all your time working and no time playing. There's no time better than the present!
Lorenn: Exercise gratitude, even in hardship. It's all about the journey.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is both of our first time partaking in the official "CouchSurfing" experience, although we have both spent many a time crashing on somebody's couch during our travels as well as sharing our own to family and friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anna: For books I like anything by John Grisham, anything by Donald Miller, Tina Fey's "Bossypants", Water for Elephants, and autobiographies (I recently read Jane Lynch's and it was amazing). Movies I like include Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Hitch, It's Complicated, As Good As It Gets, I Am Legend, Clueless, Horrible Bosses and Spanglish. I mostly listen to singer/songwriter music like Sara Bareilles, James Morrison, Ray LaMontagne and old school Jason Mraz. But I'm also into anything with a good beat and anything with some Latin flavor so I can get to dancing.
Lorenn:
Movies - Wedding Crashers, Big Lebowski, Anything Wes Anderson; Musica - I'm serious when I say 'everything', excepting country and punk; Books - I like to read non-fiction commentaries on interesting, timely phenomena. Or how-to's. I don't know, I just read for school. None of that Twilight crap.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lorenn: Just took a helicopter tour of Kaua'i. It's the most beautiful natural place on Earth--rainforest meets canyon meets waterfall meets white sand beach.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach you how to play the piano. Anna is a skilled crafter, and Lorenn knows a lot about medical tourism.
