ABOUT Schuen

I am Schuen, now I am working as well as studying in Heidelberg, southern Germany. I can speak German, English and my mother tongue---Mandarin.

I am still not very sure how to introduce myself... but I am willing to let you know more about me :)

I had lived in Beijing for some time around 2008, I met loads of crazy people there, then I returned to home and study my bachelor in history, during that time I went to India several times before I reached my 20, realizing I wanted to do something different and special AS A WOMAN. So I said good-bye to my boyfriend and our cats (temporarily?) and start my new life in Germany, now I am interested in composing a life with loads of laughs!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My German Vermieter (of English, landlord... but I am not sure if this is a right word!) likes to accept couchsurfers, and I enjoy each of them! This time I am going to travel a few places, then I ask myself, 'why not?'

My first couchsurfing experience was to run a half marathon in Munich in 2015, I met host there, a really friendly Spanish expat who has lived in Germany for ten years. After that I found joining couchsurfing can let me have a chance to know more about what are people doing now, what are people caring, what are the biggest interests in people's mind.... Via talk, I really found it intriguing!

Interests

I am in love of nature, the forest and the sea (under the sea!) and the animal there.
I love running and cycling, hiking and swimming.
I enjoy food from spicy to sweetie.
I love music, now I am in love with Vivaldi's all E minor...
I used to drink a lot, now only a bit :)

I used to read loads (an repeatedly) of Russian masterpieces, the great mind of Levin in Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, was really a character that I remind myself of so often.

Some other important works, specially poetry, both classic / medieval and contemporary Chinese ones have been always vital to shape my perspectives. Including Xu Zhimo, Yu Guangzhong (both can be checked on Wikipedia). My current favorite author (poet) is Tomas Tranströmer, a Swedish Nobel Prize winner.

I used to read many translated works, what I can immediately remember now including those by German (language) poet/philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, poet Rainer Maria Rilke, legal & crime novelist Ferdinand von Schirach, novelist & journalist Frank Schätzing, Sarita Mandanna (she is a really really briliant Indian author!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rock-climbing on the chilling waterfall in October for a river tracing expedition in Taiwan in the end with a broken ankle.

Diving with hawksbill turtle around extremely colorful coral reef canyon in Orchid Island, Taiwan

Long talk with a Brahman who made my seriously cry in Assi Ghat, Varanasi, India

Speaking German when I am drunk and dreaming might be counted too these day. Mensch!
