About Me

CURRENT MISSION

being a happy family.

ABOUT ME

I'm 28, Tom's 31, Owen's 0, but he's growing all the time! We've lived in our house for 5 years and love the area, there's lots going on and it would be great to show people around. We gave up our jobs in 2010 to travel Europe, but we found out that I was pregnant half way through and since then our priorities have changed a little! We would still like to travel, though, and are keen to meet families who are doing the same.

PHILOSOPHY

'You can call me what you like as long as you don't call me late for my dinner'.

Dennis Beardsley Snr.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted quite a few people at our house. Its been really interesting meeting people from such a variety of places, from all walks of life and in Nottingham for such different reasons (Nottingham isn't very well known on the tourist trail - but it should be!). Now I think we are particularly interested in hosting families, it would e great to share our home with a family with children of a similar age to Owen.
We also want to surf more. We don't want to use Couchsurfing to 'find a bed, sleep and go'. We like meeting new people and finding out about new places, and I believe one of the best ways that you can do this, and contribute to a home during your stay, is through Couchsurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've hosted 7 people/groups of people to date. All these experiences have been positive and I love showing people around Nottingham because I'm a native and I think it is an underrated place! I've also been to a couple of Nottingham Couchsurfing meet-ups they're a friendly and welcoming group of people. I think my favourite holiday was when we couchsurfed in Ghent, Belgium with Dries and Linde. This has been our only joint couchsurf so far, but I hope that will change soon!

Music, Movies, and Books

Shane Meadows films. Un Prophete was the last film we saw at the cinema. Little Miss Sunshine always puts me in a good mood.

We're going to be volunteer stewards at Glastonbury Festival in June. Aretha Franklin, Take That, Prince, Baaba Maal, The Stone Roses.

Lots of books. All the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Our baby Owen. Even when we are really, really tired...

Teach, Learn, Share

Spending time with other families. I can help people practice English, and I want to spend some of my time away practicing French. I could share a little bit of experience at yoga and meditation. I practice Sewdish Body Massage. I'd like to share recipes and cook with people.
