About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to see as much of this amazing world in my lifetime

ABOUT ME

I am from Sydney, Australia and have lived, studied and worked there most of my life. I have done some travelling through work (India, Korea) and independent travel to Taiwan, China, Vietnam.

Most recently I have spent the last year working and living in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as a volunteer in business development. I have travelled extensively in Mongolia and will return to Sydney in March 2011.

I want to continue to have amazing travel experiences and meeting people around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest and be happy
Have no regrets in life
Treat others as you want to be treated
See the world and meet new people wherever you are

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was introduced to CS Community from a friend of mine who has been a CS and hosted CS at his home. I think it's a great way to meet new people and share experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read. Some of my favourite authors are David Sedaris (comedy writer), F. Scott Fitzgerald (The Great Gatsby) and I like to read non-fiction books.

Movies - I love art house films but also enjoy foreign films.

Music - I love jazz, chill out and love dancing to top 40 songs!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing things that I have done is to work and live in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia for a year as a volunteer.
It has allowed me to see 14 of the 21 provinces of Mongolia and really understand Mongolian culture and people. It's also meant that I survived living in the coldest capital in the world (-40 degrees!!!)

In 2010, I competed in the Gobi Desert Half-Marathon which was amazing! I also ran my first marathon in my home town Sydney in 2009 which was a massive achievement.

After losing a family member to cancer 2 years ago, I decided to fundraise for a cancer research charity called Cantoo and competed in my first ocean swim - 2kms and 2.7kms in choppy oceans in Sydney. My friends and family sponsored me for the event. It allowed me to conquer my fears and do something amazing. I also trained with people who have been affected with cancer who were inspirational.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been working with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) while in Mongolia. Mongolia is a landlocked country sandwiched between China and Russia that faces enormous infrastructure needs and harsh climatic conditions that make access to markets difficult for local businesses. I was lucky enough to see some of the good businesses and organisations that are making a difference in Mongolia.

Previously I worked with Australian businesses who were exporting their products and services overseas, mainly in the professional services, e-learning and education industry. Although Australia is considered far away, the power of e-commerce and the internet has made trade and doing business a lot easier.
