Music, Movies, and Books

I LOVE music, and it's hard to pick a favourite! For now, I'll probably say jazz & blues, although I do enjoy rock&roll just as much (and am guilty of dancing to Spice Girls/James Brown when i'm alone at home). I tinker with the guitar, and Tommy Emmanuel is my guitar hero!

TV Shows include Sherlock, 30 Rock, Game Of Thrones, House of Cards, Saturday Night Live, QI, The Ellen Degeneres Show, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was privileged to be part of the relief team from Singapore Girl Guides who went down to Phuket, Thailand in 2005, which was unfortunately struck by a Tsunami on December 2004.
As a 13 year old, I couldn't help with construction and hence was assigned to multiple orphanages to cheer up the children who had lost their parents and all their relatives in the Tsunami.
The orphanages were truly unified as a community, providing each other the support needed to get over the tragedy. Should an orphan reminisce about his relatives, another 10 will surround him, cry together with him, and offer him words of strength.
I can only sympathise, not empathise with these children, and admire not only their courage to continue moving onwards, but the special bond they shared with each other. It was really heartwarming to see how they had made a new family out of people who were once strangers, and how being unselfish and working in unison empowered them to get over any adversities in life.
