About Me

I'm a 28 year old student currently living in the Netherlands to study Marine Animal Ecology. I was originally born in Russia but have lived in the Netherlands, Spain, France, Kenya, Cape Verde, Thailand and Vietnam.

In my free time I like to go running, swimming or anything active. Most of my money goes towards buying sports shoes, going on scuba diving or ski trips and just spontaneously booking trips around the world. The best kind of trip is a one way trip :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a brilliant way to meet people and travel in a more fun and social way. I'm often a solo traveller and I sometimes get lonely so Couchsurfing not only provides accommodation but also someone friendly and welcome to talk to. It's great way to meet new people and make one more friend in that one city you visited that one time.

Interests

I really like marine biology and anything that lives in the ocean. I started out as a shell collector when I was 4 which blossomed into a full-blown ocean obsession pretty quickly. Nothing makes me happier than being underwater and looking for coral disease or identifying species.

Like most people on here one of my main passions is travelling. I take every holiday opportunity to go somewhere new, I think I have visited almost 40 countries.

Other than that I enjoy skiing and snowboarding, swimming, basketball, running, reading, singing (I give great shower concerts), dancing and just spending time with friends at a nice cafe or park.

If I could construct my perfect year, I would spend the winter season as a ski instructor in France and the other half a scuba diver instructor in the Gulf of Thailand.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's more amusing than amazing, I accidentally cut my leg open while cutting a piece of toast on my lap. I now have 14 stitches and a great story about 'how I fought a shark' to tell

Since then I have thankfully become a more responsible and learned how to tell a leg from a table.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy learning new languages so I would be delighted to learn a bit of a new language. I am a sports person but have always been jealous of the dancers and would love to learn some

What I Can Share with Hosts

Anything from languages, recipes, stories and admiration for tropical fish
