In short: I once won a soulja boy dance contest at a Bar Mitzfah and I'm still mad about the time I got a jaywalking ticket.

But really: After spending a year teaching English in Madrid and traveling throughout Europe, I'm back home in good ol' Missouri before going to graduate school next year. There's a lot to love about Kansas City but I do miss the cultural exchange that was so much a part of my time abroad. I'd love to meet some fellow travelers passing through the Midwest

I wasn't able to host people when I was in Europe. Now that I have a large enough apartment in Kansas City, I'd love to pay back the fantastic experiences I had in Europe by hosting people here!

Music: Belle & Sebastian, Girls, The National, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, Sufjan, Jens Lekman, Camera Obscura, Elliott Smith, Okkervil River, David Bowie, The Zombies, The Antlers, Smith Westerns, etc etc etc. My playlist of hit songs of the 1960's has more than 200 songs.

Movies: Lots. My favorite movie of this year was probably Boyhood.

Books: Giovanni's Room, Invisible Cities, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Picture of Dorian Gray, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Winesburg Ohio. I'm really into Southern Gothic and Magic Realism.

Well, ending up on the back of a motorcycle with a stranger after getting separated from my friend in a street riot in Marrakesh, Morocco was certainly an experience. I'll tell ya more about that.
