About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be happy and to make the others happy. But it's rather a permanent mission :).

ABOUT ME

I can'€™t sing even though I always dreamt to be a singer. Once my teacher allowed me to sing during the nativity play. Well, people didn'€™t applaud me for a long. Even my father - usually so eager to praise me -€“ lowered his eyes when I asked him if he had enjoyed my performance. Anyway, I changed my mind and decided to become: a ballerina, then a shop assistant, a librarian, a nurse, a journalist, a cook, an architect, a fashion designer, a teacher and a nanny...

As you can see, I was forced to review my plans a couple of times. But I have never completely given up. I still love dancing (I know all the seasons of So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With Stars by heart). I'€™ve learnt how to cook. I did work as a cashier, a librarian, a journalist and a nurse. I sew from time to time. I plan to take an interior design course. I studied Elmentary Educaion so I am a professional teacher :-). However, I work as a pedagogue in a center for mentally handicapped people. Apart from that I spend a couple of hours a week trying to be the best nanny possible and make a life of one wonderful 3-year-old girl an adventure filled with the most beautiful memories ever!

I really enjoy my life :-).

PHILOSOPHY

If you break something try to repair it - there's always a way to make up for your mistakes.

Be as independent as possible.

Make everything you do meaningfull.

Do not complain... (I hate when people complain.)

My philosophy as a learner and a teacher:

1. When you hear about something - you assimilate 20% of the material, when you see something - you assmilate 50% of the material, when you experiance something - you assimilate THE WHOLE material.

2. The best way to learn something is to teach somebody about it.

Interests

I'm interested in psychology, I hope to take up psycho-studies and become a famous therapist:).

I like taking photos but unfortunatelly I still don't know the "recipe" for a good one... Thanks God PhotoShops were invented.

I love decorating interiors but I would like to learn how to design them professionally. I need this skill just for my own use though if there's anybody brave enough to comission me to renovate their place I would do it for free :).

Watching films, listening to music, reading books; cooking, baking; riding a bicycle; playing with children; I LOVE IT!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love drama movies - even though they make me feel sympathetic, angry, depressed - just uncomfortable, they also make me think. And that's the point of watching movies, isn't it?

I love many films so I will put down the ones I've recently enjoyed: Revolutionary Road, Lost in Translation, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (M. Forman!), The Hours, Persopolis, Changeling (!), The Dutchess, Bridges of Medison County (!!!)...

Audrey Hepburn, Maryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet - they're my goddessess of the wide scree.

Films I watch regulary: Brakefast at Tiffany's, Paris - je t'aime, Moulin Rouge, Jasminum, Lejdis (the last two are Polish).

I love series! Friends, Ally McBeal, Gilmore Girls, Grey's Anatomy - they're a part of my life :).

---

Will it sound cliche if I write that "what I listen depends on my mood"?... Sometimes I feel like fooling around (POP but a good one - e.g. Maria Mena), sometimes I just want to relax (soundtracks are the best for this!), sometimes I want to move a bit - dance, jump or whatever :) (the old good rock), sometimes I need a background for doing something else (Yann Tiersen, Michael Buble; jazz!!!).

Lately I've started listening to chinese music and I would definastely recommend you Faye Wong!

I dislike reagge (there are maybe two songs I hardly accept)... My image of the Hell - being forced to listen to this music over and over again, hahaha. All the reagge songs are the same - just tell me if I'm wrong :).

I wouldn't be able to live without music! OK, that's the second cliche in here... Sorry!

---

I still adore "Anne from Green Gable" by L.M. Montgomery which was the first book I have ever read. Then there were a couple of other writters which made me feel proud of the fact I could read :). Those are: J.K. Rowling, Whiliam Wharton, Paolo Cohelo (I was young, now I'm more critical of him), Olga Tokarczuk, Dorota Terakowska, Meave Binchy (why not?) and I can't remember the rest :).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked in an old peaople's home. I worked in a psychiatry hospital. I also worked in a psychaitry institution for peaple with no chances of recovering. Theese experiances were a source of feelings and thoughts which were difficult for such a young, full of life, hopes and entusiasiasm person as I was (am) to accept.

During a student exchange I have fallen in love with a Chinese guy. We spend a couple of years maintaing our relationship. Unfortunately, things did not work as we (I) wanted... But being so close to somebody who came from such a different background was the most beautiful, crazy and enriching experiance of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Concerning teaching and learning I usually have languages in my mind :).

I'm an English teacher - this language has been my passion since I remember so I will be pleased being able to share it with the others (preferably the youngest learners).

After my first trip to Belgium I've started learning French and... the devil's not so black as he is painted :). I have acquired French quite fast and decided to live in a French speaking country. Belgium rocks!

I've started studdying Chinese recently and that's one of the biggest challanges in my life :).
