About Me

Hi couchsurfers, unfortunate news: I have moved out from my current apartment to a share house so I can't host people in Beppu anymore :( HOWEVER, if you are interested in staying in Oita city (which is only 30 mins away from Beppu by train), please drop me a message, I will try to help you out ^^

I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam until 18 years old. After that I left for Japan to pursue undergraduate degree in Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (Beppu city, Oita Prefecture, Japan). I love travelling, meeting new people, making new friends. My vision is to challenge my personal best and always want to continuously improve myself from good to great. One of my favorite quotations is "If you tell me I can't, I'll die trying to prove you wrong." I'm really looking forward to meeting amazing people and experiencing life-changing trips!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to meet new people and learn from unexpectable challenges ahead. Couchsurfing is a great place to be connected with people all over the world.

Interests

I love cooking and love watching cooking shows! Can't resist to sexy stunning looking foods haha. I think that food is not just what people eat, it shows what people believe too. Definitely open to try foreign foods, as long as I can digest it. I can cook Vietnamese and Japanese dishes quite well. I'm trying on low-carb diet and healthy vegan cuisine as well.

I also love learning new languages. I've been learning English and Japanese (advanced level). Right now I'm very interested in Chinese and French. Besides I also love teaching English and share language-learning tips with novice learners. To me, learning a new language is becoming a new version of myself. Sometimes I feel like the self when I speak English is way different than when I speak Japanese, or Vietnamese. If you are also bilingual/trilingual or so I think you understand what I mean :)

Besides, I'm a daydreamer. I love jotting down random notes and blogs. Feel free to drop by: fromarieswithlove.wordpress.com

Music, Movies, and Books

+ Music Genres: Pop, Ballad, Jazz
+ Movies: Pay it forward, The best of me, Departures (Japanese movie), Spirited Away (actually I love all anime movies directed by Hayao Miyazaki), You are the apple of my eyes (那些年,我們一起追的女孩)
+ Books: The Story of A Seagull and The Cat Who Taught Her To Fly, Men are from Mars Woman are from Venus, etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was admited to my university with 100% tuition fee waiver and after internal screenings I've won one of the most prestigious scholarships offered by Ministry of Education,Culture,Sports,Science & Technology (MEXT) which only 10 out of 5000 students at my uni got recommended for. Honestly life in Japan is much easier with scholarships and awards.

If you have interests in how to win scholarships in Japan (or in general) I'm happy to share my experience :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Although I'm not a native speaker, I've been working as English Teaching Assistance, English Tutor both on and off-campus so I think to a certain extent I can definitely help you with learning English, from the perspectives of an English learner (I understand the difficulties that all English learners encounter, and I'm happy to share tips on how to break those barriers). I can also teach you Vietnamese and Japanese if you are interested in learning these languages.

I would love to hear stories and ask very provoking questions like "If today were the last day of your life, what would you do?" so feel free to open up and have a deep talk with me, since I myself love to know more about YOU and no worries, if we're different I will just listen without giving/showing any judgement.
