One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I used to work for a teenage holiday camp near Barcelona every summer. There are a load of very typically touristy seaside towns in that area, but one of them, Playa de Aro, still had a certain charm to it (and a great beach makes up for a lot anyway). The camp site was right on the beach.
I worked as part of a team of cooks in a kitchen tent catering for 200-300 people every night - it got pretty darn hot in there and the work was deliciously mindless and exhausting. At the end of a dinner shift you were incredibly sweaty and tired, but also absolutely content with an honest day's work behind you.
While working there I met this awesome chick - Verena - who is now one of my closest friends. After every dinner shift we used to run to the beach in our kitchen outfits (bikinis were worn as underwear at all times of course), rip of the sweaty gear and run into the sea for a late-night swim.
By that time it was usually sunset, and we'd swim in the mellow sea, with the sun setting behind us, bathing everything in beautifully golden light. After that we'd wrap ourselves in towels, sip our well-deserved after work beers, and chat until all the light was gone.
Those were some of the most perfect moments of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a pretty good cook - used to work as a chef. I don't do recipes, just make it up as I go along. But more than happy to cook together and share what I know.
I really really want to learn Salsa. Ive done it a few times, but need lots more practice, so any guidance would be immense.
