PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy has been in flux over the last year... but some of my core values have not changed: treating all other beings with respect, kindness and interest; always learning and reaching; and, seeing beauty in everyday life.

Writing, reading, photography. Skiing, hiking, camping. Playing my guitar and singing (sometimes I perform at the local pub). Baking bread and making soup stocks and soup. TRAVEL. Meeting other people.

Books: this list could go on for a while, but some book-loves of my life: Kristjana Gunnars, Marguerite Duras, Anne Carson and Paul Auster.

I like to listen to a lot of different kinds of music. When I play/sing, I always head toward to the folk rock, Neil Young/Bob Dylan end of the spectrum.

Movies: my interests are hugely varying, BUT I hate the idea of spending two hours of existence on fluff, soooo if I am going to commit to an entire movie, it is usually a movie that offers something fresh, brave or otherwise new/scary/exciting to me.

Hmm, well I can help you settle into life in Iqaluit and discover the community here, which is quite different from most other places in Canada.
I could support you to write a large technical manual for an adult education program or community development program (no, seriously...). :)
I could play guitar and sing with you.
I could show you some edible and medicinal Arctic plants.

I would also like to learn about and try hang gliding. and surfing. I would also like to learn more about overnight winter camping.
